Hello and happy Friday!

In ELA this week, the students learned how to close read and annotate texts using symbol and explanations to show their thinking while reading. The students also learned how to make text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world connections. Our grammar skill this week was identifying and using relative adverbs. In writing, the students reflected on the first half of the trimester by writing what they think they are doing well in each subject area and determining areas that need improvement in each subject area.

In math, the students have been working on factors, multiples, and prime/composite numbers. They have an assessment on these skills today. Next week, we will be learning how to multiply multi-digit numbers.

In social studies, the students learned about climate and weather in the different regions of the United States. We discussed the relationship weather and climate have with how close or far a location is to the equator.

In science, the students explored the difference between kinetic and potential energy. They conducted an experiment to see the relationship between the speed of an object and amount of energy in that object.

4th grade is in charge of the November assembly. I would like to collect two pictures from each one of my students.

The first picture should be from when your child was around toddler age, and they were doing something silly. For example, wearing a strainer on their head, or sitting inside a carved pumpkin, or a time when they got food all over their face.

The second picture should be of your child recently (close to their age now) that shows them doing something they love to do.

You may either send hard copies in with your child or you can send them to me electronically through email.

Thank you!!! I really appreciate it!!!
