You are equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to have a positive impact on the world. This takes much time and effort. This takes planning and dedication. This takes a teacher like YOU!
One Team - One Goal - No Limits!
When students are faced with YELLING ADULTS!
Yelling Releases the Stress Biochemicals - adrenaline, cortisol, and norepinephrine - When this happens the student is no longer able to process the information/correction given to him/her. Thus they are most likely going to repeat the unwanted behavior.
Yelling Causes Loss of Credibility and Respect - The student is less likely to come to the yelling adult even if that adult has the best intentions and best advice.
Yelling Adults Train Yelling Kids to grow up and become yelling adults.
Yelling should be used to Give Warning - When adults yell because they are angry, students get confused and used yelling at inappropriate times.
When you feel yourself getting frustrated:
1. Step back, take a breath and give your brain time to respond as an adult
2. Step back, take a breath and give the student time to get his/her brain ready to receive information.
