Kesterson Elementary School

Welcome to Our New Assistant Principal

We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Tiffany Burlacu to Kesterson as our new assistant principal. She comes to us with several years of experience as the AP at Eva Wolfe Elementary School, and she has already made herself a valued member of our team. Please welcome her as you see her on the playground or in the hallways.

Helpful information for new families

Although this may not contain ALL the information you may need, we hope this gives you a great head start to joining the Kesterson Family. Please call the school office if you have any questions. WE ARE HERE TO HELP!

Infinite Campus access

Infinite Campus is a website parents can use to see student information, including grades and attendance. For password assistance, contact the front office.

Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders

Please make sure that you are following all traffic laws when you are dropping off or picking up your children. Make sure that you do not park in red zones, and PLEASE do not block our neighbors' driveways! CCSD Police and Henderson PD have already been here giving tickets this school year.

Remember that, as adults, we should always be modeling proper behavior for our children. Please be courteous and respectful. Also, please make sure that you are using crosswalks to cross streets and in our parking lot. Do not let your children walk between parked busses - this is very dangerous since bus drivers can't always see small children.

Volunteer Policy

We welcome volunteers at Kesterson! However, CCSD policy mandates that anyone who is going to volunteer more than three times a month, or who is ever alone with students, must have a background check and fingerprints done through the district. If you are interested in volunteering, please look at the letter that was sent home with instructions on how to complete the background check, or contact Ms. Vicky in the office.

House Shirts

We are in the process of ordering house shirts. All students who are new to Kesterson will receive a shirt. If your child is not new to Kesterson, but needs a new shirt, you can purchase one for $10. Order forms went home on Friday - look for the bright green paper. If you can't find the form, just stop in the office to place your order. All orders are due by Thursday, August 30.

Absences and Tardies

It is impossible to overestimate the importance of attendance. Attendance is an important factor in academic success. In order for students to receive the best education possible, they need to be at school! Please keep the following in mind:

  • The academic impact of missing school is the same whether absences are excused or unexcused.
  • Students may be able to make up missing assignments, but they will be missing direct instruction, which cannot be made up.
  • Instruction begins when the first bell rings and does not end until the last bell at the end of the day. Students who come to school late or leave early will miss valuable instruction and learning opportunities.
  • If a student is 10 minutes late to school each day, this adds up to missing more than 33 hours (6 school days!) of class time.
  • A student with a 90 percent attendance average for Kindergarten through 12th grade will miss over a year of accumulated time in the classroom.
  • Remember, 5 star schools have 5 star students, which requires 5 star attendance.

Your responsibilities:

  • Make sure your child comes to school on time every day, and stays for the entire day.
  • Make medical and dental appointments outside of the school day whenever possible.
  • Plan family vacations during school breaks.
