Dear AMS Students and Families

We are excited to welcome you back for the school year on Wednesday, August 25th.

Our school day is from 8:45am - 3:45pm every day.


Campus supervision will begin at 8:30am, for the safety of all, please don’t arrive earlier. We are going to utilize the middle school playground for before school supervision. The whistle will be blown at 8:40am for entry to the building and students will report to their core grade level area to receive their printed schedules. PowerSchool portal will be turned on for parents and students tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday) to view schedules. We will help students understand their schedules and find their classes as the schedule is different this year. Please know that classes are aiming to be balanced for the success of all students.


All students, staff and visitors on campus will be required to wear masks at all times they are indoors. When outside, this can be a personal choice, but always encouraged.


Students will have lunch, recess and community time between 11:45am - 12:45pm daily.

  • 5th and 6th Grade students will eat from 11:45am -12:05pm, head to recess until 12:25pm, then return to their teams for community time.

  • 7th and 8th Grade students will have community time at 11:45am, head to the cafeteria at 12:05pm followed by recess outside.


Students can bring home lunch or purchase school lunch daily for $5.00 using their student number. All students will be expected to eat lunch daily. Extra items include muffins, breads, and cookies which are $2.00 each. The salad bar is back for all to enjoy. Please do not send junk food as part of the school day. A breakfast option will be added in the near future as well to ensure our students are well fed and ready for learning.


Health and safety guidance for COVID is included here for your reference. Of utmost importance is staying home when ill for all students and staff.


As a school, we will be building our school-wide systems of behavior expectations to ensure that all students know what is expected, and how to get help or assistance when needed. Parents, we will also be sharing this information with you to assist. We want everyone to work together to ensure a safe and welcoming environment is in place for everyone.


If you are interested in volunteering at school, we would love your help. Before school, lunch and dismissal times can always benefit from extra eyes, ears and hands to help. Please let me know if you want to sign up to help.


Returning Student Registration materials were sent out in early August. If you have not completed registration paperwork, please contact Karin Wehse immediately. Her email is kwehse@aspenk12.net


Transportation information was sent out this afternoon.


Thank you for your patience and understanding as we return to school this year with many new faces. It will be great to meet you and your children in the days and weeks ahead! Teachers will be sending emails out tomorrow, so your kids can get even more excited for the year. I can’t wait to meet you all!
