Thoughts from Dr. Pacatte
At the beginning of the school year, I began to put together an event for our families with a focus on student safety. The world is so very complex these days and our students are faced with tough decisions for their personal safety and welfare everyday. As I shared my idea with superintendents from the neighboring schools, we decided to combine our efforts and host one event for our families. The Gurnee Police Department, Warren Newport Library, and the Warren Township Center were on board and offered to help.
The result is a Gurnee Community Safety Seminar scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, to be held at the Warren Newport Public Library, in their large space. The intention of this event is to provide brief overviews on things our parents should be aware of and looking for as they support and monitor their childrens' daily activities. This event is scheduled to run approximately one hour and will provide an opportunity for questions and answers.
Areas to be discussed include drugs & look alike drugs, gun safety, and mental health. I am proud of the way our community resources came together to support one another and this community.
Gurnee School District 56 will be live streaming the event for parents who would like to listen in from home. A link will be sent home prior to the event.
Reminder to complete the survey for your input in search of the new D56 Superintendent. The survey will close on October 1, 2022.
