The Boerne ISD Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting in the BISD Board Room on Monday, January 24th, 2022.
This month's Board meeting included:

Calendar Art Contest WinnersCongratulations to the School Board Recognition Month Calendar Art Contest Winners. As you know, January is School Board Recognition Month. Every school in Boerne ISD participated in the art contest with the district receiving hundreds of submissions. The submissions were narrowed down to 13 finalists whose artwork appears in this year’s school board recognition month calendar. Each board member was given a copy of the calendar as part of school board recognition month. The calendar contest winners are: -Boerne HS- Carson Williams -Champion HS- Eleanor Nagy -Boerne MSN had two winners- Jackson Olivo and Sydney Weller -Boerne MSS- Isabella May -Voss MS- Brooklyn Le -Cibolo Creek ES- Eva Lazzaro -Curington ES- Tucker Thompson -Fabra ES- Chasen Williams -Fair Oaks Ranch ES- AJ Serrano -Herff ES- Erin Barowsky -Kendall ES- Andrina Wilson -Van Raub ES- Emily Elrod | All-State BandCongratulations to the 2022 All-State Band students from Boerne and Champion High Schools. Boerne’s Savanna Strause and Connor West were selected to the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) All-State squad, while Champion’s Ethan Ratliff earned a spot on the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Band. This is the second year in a row that Ratliff has been named All-State. Becoming an All-State Band Member is one of the highest achievements an individual band student can earn, and less than .5% of all participants can earn the honor. This was a record-breaking year for both the Chargers and Greyhounds bands, as both schools set records for region and area qualifiers. | Voss Middle SchoolVoss Middle School has been nationally recognized as a 2022 Texas School to watch by The National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform and the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. Voss joins approximately 50 other campuses across Texas with this distinction and honor. State leaders selected Voss Middle School for its Academic Excellence, Developmental Responsiveness, Social Equity, and Organizational Structure and Processes. In addition, Voss MS has strong leadership, teachers who work together to improve curriculum and instruction, and a commitment to assessment and accountability to bring about continuous improvement. The Schools to Watch selection process is based on a written application that requires schools to show how they met criteria developed by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform. Schools that appeared to meet the criteria were then visited by state teams, which observed classrooms, interviewed administrators, teachers, students, and parents, and looked at achievement data, suspension rates, quality of lessons, and student work. Schools are recognized for a three-year period. |

All-State Band

Transparency Stars recognizes local governments that provide easy online access to important financial data.
The debt obligations Transparency Star recognizes entities whose websites show visual and narrative detail on outstanding debt, tax-supported debt obligations, historical bond elections, and more.
The Comptroller’s office launched the Transparency Stars program in March 2016 to recognize cities, counties, school districts, and special purpose districts making important strides toward greater government transparency.
Jr. Livestock Show Winners
Nearly 40 Boerne ISD students earned the title of Champion this year’s Junior Livestock show. BISD students were named champions in the categories of Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, Ag Mechanics, Breed Champions, and Reserve Champion.
These are just some of the students who were a large part of helping raise over $1.5 million dollars at the auction.
We are proud of the hard work and dedication of our Ag students.
A special thank you to our BISD Ag Teachers for their work as well in helping our students succeed.
Boerne ISD will hold a Bond Election on Saturday, May 7, 2022. The ballot will consist of two separate propositions, totaling $165.64 million dollars, and will focus on safety, growth, and technology.
The Boerne ISD Board of Trustees accepted the recommendations of the district’s Long Range Steering Committee, which is composed of over 80 community volunteers, including parents, teachers, students, and business members. The committee met eight times over a span of five months to discuss ways to manage the district’s growth, which led to the creation of the proposed bond package.

Boerne ISD has enacted emergency pay rates for all Substitutes and all Auxiliary Employees, effective immediately. The new pay rates are the second-highest in the region.
All Substitutes, both daily and long-term assignments, will receive an additional $25 per day, increasing their daily rate. The new pay rates for Substitutes are:
-Degree or non-degreed: $120/day
-Certified Teacher: $135/day
-Certified Teacher, Long Term sub: $185
-Nurse: $135
In addition, all Auxiliary employees (maintenance, custodial, food service, and transportation) will receive an additional $2 per hour during the emergency pay period, which averages an additional $320 a month for eight-hour Employees.
In December 2021, the district gave Longevity Stipends to all employees. All employees on the Teacher pay scale received a longevity stipend of $1,050, which netted a take-home amount of approximately $800 after mandatory taxes were taken out. All other permanent full-time employees, not including temporary or substitutes, received a longevity stipend of $325, which netted a take-home amount of approximately $250 after mandatory taxes were taken out.
The district used Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) for the Longevity Stipends and will use the same federal funds for the emergency pay rates for our Auxiliary Employees. Local district funding will not be used.
Our Trustees were honored at the meeting for School Board Recognition Month. The Board members were presented with appreciation gifts, including a 2022 Calendar designed by our students. We greatly appreciate our board and all they do for the Boerne ISD Community.

-At the beginning of this week, we had an ADA of 90%.
-The Boerne ISD Pathways in Technology (PTECH) application has officially opened. Currently, there are 12 applicants for the program.
