"It’s the most wonderful time of year, with the kids jingle belling and everyone telling you be of good cheer!” These words rang loudly as I pulled into work today. I wait 11 months for this merry time of year when I get to blare my Christmas music on November 1st and my family gets to watch our favorite Christmas movies. We anxiously begin searching the guide looking for Cousin Eddie and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. We anticipate the moments in A Christmas Story when Ralphie’s dad opens the crate marked fra-gee-lee containing his “major award” and Ralphie gets pushed down the slide by Santa while yelling, “you’ll shoot your eye out, kid!” My youngest son loves the howling of the polar express and when the engineer yells “Caribouuuu!”. Or my personal favorite, It’s a Wonderful Life (I do the best Jimmy Stewart impression!). These are movies I watched as a kid with my parents now I have the pleasure to sit down with my own children and watch their face light up when Kevin McAllister says “Are you thirsty for more?” These memories hold a special place in my heart. We all wait a year to celebrate Christmas. Yet when we plan our celebration, we tend to forget those who serve us unfailingly. We gather around the Christmas tree with friends and family. But we forget to invite those who are alone in this world. This holiday season bring joy to others with an act of kindness. From the Lee household we want to wish everyone in the Carleton Colt community a relaxing holiday with the ones you love and hope there are more smiles than presents under the tree. As a colt family we will continue to REACH for our best in 2019! I leave you this year with the powerful words from the immortal Tiny Tim, “God bless us, everyone.”
