7th grade is currently working on our fiber arts unit. We are creating Batiks which are created around the world but specifically well known in Indonesia. Students are creating their own design for their batiks. The lines are traditionally created with hot wax (we are using glue) and then dyed (we are using acrylic paint). Once dry, the glue is washed off with hot water and the fabric underneath is left unpainted and reveals the design.
