Happy Easter from the Staff at Los Encinos Elementary
Principal's Message
We are so proud of our entire Los Encinos school community. Last week was our first official week of distance learning with our teachers sharing lessons and assignments with parents/guardians. We realize this may not be an easy task to accomplish at home especially if you have more than one student to assist. We have revised our lesson plan template that explains exactly what students can work on each day of the week as well as your child's teacher's daily schedule.
Please have your child complete these lessons at their own pace. Everything does not have to be completed at one time. Spread the work out throughout the week. We understand that we have many families with children in several grade levels and online access or the availability of devices may be difficult. We encourage you to complete what you can so they can continue learning while our campus is closed.
Thank you for all you are doing to work with us as we navigate through distance learning. We are all in this together. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Assistant Principal Appreciation Week
CCISD Closed to Public Until May 4th
Following Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order requiring schools to remain closed until May 4, CCISD has extended the district’s closure to the public. If health officials continue to need everyone’s help to preserve health, CCISD will further extend the closure.
Safety and the continuation of students’ education remain priorities in CCISD. The district is finalizing grading guidelines for the fifth six weeks, which was underway when the closure began, and will share the guidelines with families this week. Curbside meal service will continue.
CCISD will continue conducting essential district business, with employees working remotely or onsite as needed. The district continues to follow health officials’ guidelines, including social distancing as well as providing ample supplies for frequent hand-washing. Employees are asked to follow their supervisor’s instructions so the district may continue serving the community.
CCISD will continue to update the general FAQ (submit questions to communications@ccisd.us) and the Human Resources FAQ (submit questions to CCISDhr@ccisd.com). We thank the community for their continued support during this challenging time.
Grade Level Lesson Plans for Parents/Guardians
Please note the following key points about the work being assigned to your child each week:
* Reading/Language Arts and Social Studies will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays.
* Math and Science will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
*Art, Music, PE and Counselor time will take place on Fridays.
*Two assignments will be assigned each week for Reading/Language Arts and Math.
*One assignment will be assigned each week for Social Studies and Science.
*Submit for progress monitoring assignments will be listed in the notes section of the lesson plan template for each subject. These assignments need to be submitted to your child's teacher by Friday of each week.
*Links will be available on the lesson plans to take you to activities your child can view or interact with to assist with their learning.
*Teachers may provide options for Zoom instruction and these times will be listed on the teacher's Class Dojo page.
*Optional activities will be listed and these are not required, but are being provided should your child need additional work.
Student Work Submission for Progress Monitoring: 5th Six Weeks Report Card
We have been careful to not overload our students with work. In order for students to receive "Pass" in their teacher's grade book, assignments designated as submit for progress monitoring may be submitted via Class Dojo, email or take a picture and send your child's teacher a text message if they shared their phone number with you.
Classroom teachers along with campus administration are making every effort to reach out to parents/guardians for the following reasons:
* Have not responded to our teachers emails/messages on Class Dojo/phone calls.
*Student has not submitted assignments for progress monitoring.
This lack of communication will result in your child not achieving "Pass" on their 5th six weeks report card. An "Incomplete" will be entered for your child's final report card grade for the 5th six weeks. Students will have until April 24th to submit any distance learning assignments that were due by Friday, April 3rd. If these "Incomplete" assignments are not submitted by April 24th, teachers will then have to change the "Incomplete" to "Fail.
Please make sure every effort has been made on your part to ensure your child is completing their assignments.

At Home Family Schedule
For most of us, life feels anything but normal right now with the COVID-19 pandemic, schools are closed and many of us are working from home or still going to work.
A family schedule can be kept as close to your child’s normal school schedule as possible. You can set up specific times for reading, math and other academic work, as well as breaks. They’ll be more cooperative and work harder if they know when they’re expected to work and for how long.
Please feel free to click on the file below to download a sample schedule for your child.
