Dear Parents and Carers

Today we have been enjoying a non-uniform day for Children in Need, and also raised money with a cake sale.

Remembrance Day

Wednesday at 11am was time for reflection on the yard for Remembrance Day. The whole school including all staff went outside to stand for two minutes silence. It was very moving and the conduct of the children was excellent. Many of our pupils have bought poppies, reflectors or rulers as part of the British Legion's fundraising work.

Pantomime News

Rehearsals are now getting underway for our Christmas Pantomime. Speaking Parts have been assigned, and there will be a 'read through' for all pupils with speaking parts after school on Thursday 19th November, from 3.30-4.30pm

Any pupils wishing to dance in the Pantomime can join in by attending Mrs Bolam's lunchtime dance rehearsals.

Keeping Safe with Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service

Keeping Safe with Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service

Year 5 were visited by a local firefighter this week, as part of their Be Spirited unit of work, 'Keeping Safe'.

The lesson reinforced key messages about fire safety and they learned about the triangle of combustion; the basic science of fire, and watched a video which demonstrated the speed and ferocity of fire.

The lesson then consolidated the prevention, detection and escape plan messages from first school. Year 5 listened intently and asked very thoughtful questions throughout.

School Council News

It has been a busy day for school council, they have had a whole day of 'Skilled Up' training delivered by Julia Bradwell, our Participation and Advocacy Development Officer from North Tyneside. She commented on how great the children were at discussing issues and generating ideas.

They spent a lot of the day discussing making positive changes in school and are going to work closely with staff to make the lunchtime experience more positive for everyone. They have made campaigns, written letters and drafted rotas and other ideas. So watch out, things should be changing very soon.

If you have anything you would like to raise about lunchtime arrangements or anything in school, your class representatives are the people to talk to.

Regular meetings will take place throughout the year with Miss McElderry and there are many exciting plans being made

Wellfield were off on a great start when Connor came down the wing and crossed a perfect ball in for Stewie he had no hesitation, he slotted it near post past the keeper, no stopping that one. The referee points to the centre circle and were off again. Marden bridge were pressing fast but they just could not get past the outstanding Wellfield defence. Stewie picks up the ball in lots off space and makes his way around two defenders. He strikes it fantastically into the top left hand off the post into the back off the net.
