What is happening in RM 16?
Week of October 16th
In last weeks news....
Coming up this week...
Reading:
This week, we will be doing a reader's theater to work on our fluency and expression. Have your child read out loud to you to practice this. They should be looking ahead to the ending punctuation and adjusting their voice to match. They also should be reading to the next punctuation without pausing. Have them pay close attention to the commas within the sentences.
Writing:
We will be writing realistic fiction stories for the next couple weeks.
We are on our second week with these spelling words. By now, they should have a good understanding of the patterns and should be working on applying the words in context.
Science:
We are starting our Sound Unit!
Math:
Focus Skill: We will spend the first half of the week reviewing/applying the multiplication that they learned in second grade. As soon as they are ready, we will transition into our next chapter-multiplication tables of 6,7,8, and 9.
Multiplication Games:
PRODIGY is a great way for your students to practice math concepts in a fun way! They have their login information inside of their binders.
THINK CENTRAL give you access to virtual manipulatives, videos, and the workbook pages.
Donations for HOPE Lodge
Donating for Hope: This is Kellison's service learning project for the 2017-2018 school year. Each month a grade level will have the opportunity to collect items for Hope Lodge. Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. During the month of October, 4th grade will have the opportunity to collect lightly used blocks, puzzles, and games. The 4th grade students will be organizing these items and will ensure they make it safely to Hope Lodge in St. Louis.
