Druid Hills High School
Mr. Mark Joyner - New Principal at DHHS
January 24, 2018
Dear Druid Hills High School Community,
I’m overjoyed with the opportunity to serve Druid Hills High School as Principal. I appreciate students’, teachers’, parents’ and stakeholders’ participation in and patience with the thorough Principal search process. I have learned much about our community’s likes, dislikes, struggles and victories, goals and aspirations through this process, and the data provides us with direction for our future.
I am a DeKalb County native, and I have served DeKalb County School District for 20 years. I transferred to Druid Hills High School in 2013 as Assistant Principal of Attendance and have also served as Assistant Principal of Discipline and Assistant Principal of Instruction. I’m also an active volunteer in the DeKalb County community serving on various educational Boards and committees.
I envision Druid Hills High School as a diverse learning community with students, teachers, families and stakeholders all contributing to student growth and achievement. A learning community in which students feel safe, nurtured intellectually and socially, and encouraged to explore and develop as individuals. A learning community in which teachers are inspired and supported in their efforts to improve their craft. A learning community with families and stakeholders excited to be involved and to contribute and mine resources for our school’s benefit.
I look forward to the future of Druid Hills High School. Together – students, teachers, families, community – we will continue our tradition of excellence.
Sincerely,
Mark Joyner
