La Costa Meadows Elementary School

Weekly Dolphin Blast

Week of January 15, 2023

Hello Dolphin Families!

We loved having our students back on campus this past week! The stories they shared about their winter break adventures have been fun to listen to and it sounds like a number of our LCM families took impromptu road trips to get home, as a result of flight cancellations. I'd say there were many memories made... planned and unplanned!

We've had some pretty rainy days and with more rain likely in the coming weeks, I'd like to encourage families to make sure that their child's school Chromebook is protected in some way inside their child's backpack. Large ziplock or plastic grocery bags work great!

As we kick off this new week, I'd like to ask for our community's help in the lower lot. Mr. Mike, our lead custodian, places cones in the lower lot each morning that divert traffic around the parking lot. We do this to help out our residential neighbors and the City by getting more vehicles off of El Fuerte when they are in the cue line for drop off. Unfortunately, our cones and signs have been run over multiple times and the damage is really starting to show. Please ensure that when entering the lower lot in the morning that the directed path of travel is followed. Thank you for your support with this matter!

While this week will be a short one, it will also be a busy one filled with fun and learning!

With Dolphin pride,

Mrs. Bedard

No School - Martin Luther King Jr. Day - Monday, January 16th

This is a reminder that there is no school tomorrow, Monday, January 16th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will see students and staff back on campus on Tuesday.

Great Kindness Challenge Week - January 23rd - January 27th

Kindness week is coming up on January 23rd- January 27th at La Costa Meadows! Throughout this week LCM will be participating in the Great Kindness Challenge! This is a proactive and positive bullying prevention program that improves school climate and increases student engagement across campus. The Great Kindness Challenge is a week devoted to performing as many random acts of kindness as possible on our campus and beyond! Each student will receive a Kindness Challenge Checklist that will be sent home on Monday, January 23rd. Class and schoolwide kindness activities will take place throughout the week for students to spread kindness like confetti! Our Dolphins will be able to experience the power that being kind to others has that week and every day of the year!

During that week we will have themed spirit days. Click here to see the daily spirit day themes.
