Spelling Words for the Week

We are focused on short vowel floss words for the next two weeks. Floss words are words with a double f, l or s. The test will be given on Friday, January 15th.


On Level Floss: class, kiss, boss, cuff, sniff, tell, will, doll


High Frequency/Review Words: have, want, drop, blob


Challenge Words: intelligent, assessment, official, difference, illustrate


Please work with your child to find two more challenge words that follow the short vowel floss pattern.

Learning Topics for the Week

Reading/Language Arts: Literacy Groups - strategies good readers use, fluency practice, handwriting, Spelling - floss words, writing about an opinion



Math: Students will collect, sort & organize data. They will use tally marks and T-charts., use data to create a picture graph and/or bar graph. They will tell what they observe or know from a graph. Students will create their own questions about graphs and answer questions about a graph.


Science: hibernating animals project

describe the change in the location of an object such as closer to, nearer to, and farther

demonstrate and record the ways that objects can move such as in a straight line, zig zag, up and down, back and forth, round and round, and fast and slow.



Social Studies: Compare customs, holidays, and celebrations from past and present.
