Hernandez 8th Graders International Baccalaureate (IB) Community Service Project
The IB Community Project Kickoff for both Hernandez and Grisham took place last week on 12/5. Jessica Sager, Well Aware's Director of Development, inspired the students to cultivate their passion when choosing how to best serve others. The independent student service project will now take place over the next five months, culminating in a showcase of their learning at the end of April. We are excited for our 8th graders and their projects!
Counselor's Corner
It’s unbelievable how the first half of the school year has just flown by! This semester students have completed a needs assessment and received a stress-relief classroom guidance lesson. Eighth graders completed their career matchmaker and Lunch Bunch has officially begun.
The second semester will focus on the transition process. Counselors will be in classrooms the first week we return from winter break where we will be discussing 7th and 8th grade choice sheet class selections for next year. Students will be taking the choice sheet home for parents to review and sign. An email will be sent as a reminder. In addition, the Bulldog Girl Power group will begin shortly after winter break.
Stony Point High School counselors will be at Hernandez Middle School on January 14th and 15th for incoming high school student orientation. Distribution of high school choice sheets will follow shortly.
Don't forget to visit the Hernandez Middle School Counseling Website for transition information, upcoming events, Round Rock ISD resources, and much more.
Winter break is an excellent time to focus on self-care. It’s a time to reflect and prepare for the second half of the year. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year from the Hernandez Middle School Counseling Department!
