Reflections from the Principal
With it being the beginning of the 2nd nine weeks, we will not have Incentive time until October 22nd. Please be sure you are following along with our Advisory calendar in the "Nuts and Bolts" section of the newsletter. Advisory time is more important now than ever, as our students are faced with many challenges at home and at school, and the relationship you have built with your students is essential for their success. If you need assistance with any Advisory lessons or activities, do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Good, Mrs. Britton, Mrs. Foxworthy, Mrs. Watson, or Mrs. Jones.
As we wrap up the first nine weeks of the 2019-2020 school year, Mr. Webb and I want to thank each of you. Despite many challenges we have faced, you continue to show compassion and that you truly care. We appreciate your dedication and support! Here's to a new nine weeks!

Great Things I Saw This Week
Mr. Shabi's sophomore English class spent a couple of days breaking down difficult text and forming "expert groups" in order to jigsaw teach an essay. The jigsaw teaching strategy kept all students engaged and accountable, as each student had a role and all were responsible for teaching. Great work, Mr. Shabi!
Lastly, we are thankful for the Southeast Fountain Community Foundation and their support for many projects within our schools! Recently, SEFSC was awarded a $1,000 grant to support regulation and social emotional learning within our school corporation. Thank you to Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Good, and Mrs. Britton for assisting me with this project and grant!
Feature a Teacher, Week 4
Mr. Jake Wolfe

“Mr. Wolfe is the kind of person who has your back no matter what. Regardless of the situation or conditions, he's not going to give up on you. He's someone you can ask a question and know you're going to get a good answer, whether it's on the field or in the classroom.”
-Seth Martin
“Mr. Wolfe is a great teacher who cares for his student's successes inside the classroom and outside of it all the time.”
-Colton Badgley#MustangMindset, SEL Coordinator
The SEL department of the Indiana Department of Education has recently been focusing on teacher wellness. In partnership with Butler University, the IDOE has created The Science of Happiness course, designed for educators to promote their own social-emotional wellness. Participants will earn 45 professional growth plan points after successfully completing the course. This course will have sessions on things like the cost of caring, engagement, relationships, and other sections that apply directly to what we handle as educators. HERE is a short promotional video from IDOE. Find details about how to access and requirements of the course HERE.

IDOE Educator Training Survey
The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), at the request of the Interim Study Committee on Education, has been charged with surveying Indiana educators regarding how to do the following:
1) Eliminate, reduce, or streamline the number of training mandates placed on schools.
2) Streamline fiscal and compliance reporting to the General Assembly on a sustainable and systematic basis.
IDOE worked in collaboration with the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents, the Indiana Association of School Principals, the Indiana State Teachers Association, the American Federation of Teachers - Indiana, and the Indiana School Board Association to create this survey. All school employees are encouraged to take this survey before October 11.
