The Snappy Life Of New England Colonies
Do you ever wonder how the thirteen colonies lived? Well today you will learn by reading this article.
In the New England colonies they were fast growing in population and lived healthy. They also had very large families. They lived in very well organized towns as well.
Everyone in the family worked. There were many jobs to do. There was yarn to spin, fruit to preserve, cows to be milked, fields to be fenced, and harvesting the grain. They also became friends with the natives. They traded with them and ate with them which is now known as ‘Thanksgiving’.
People lived in many ways and worked really hard. Today wouldn’t be the same if they hadn’t came to America and settled!
Don't Mess With Are Religions
Did you know that King Henry VIII was running people out of England because he wanted everyone to believe in one thing? King Henry VIII made a church called Anglican Church. The separatist did not like anything the King did. Then the separatists went to america for religious freedom. They got on a boat called the Mayflower in September 6, 1620.Only 35 out of 102 people who was on the mayflower was pilgrims. The other was called strangers. They landed on what is called the New Netherlands. They are called pilgrims when they got to the New Netherlands. Did you know that there was a second group that went to America because of King Henry VIII?The puritans went to america for the same thing as the pilgrims. They wanted religious freedom, but when they lived in New England they only liked some stuff the King did and they didn't like the other things the King did. So when the separatists left for America, the puritans were the ones that got killed when they did not like what the King did. This is what will happen when you don't like what the King does.
Our Government Our Ways
No one Will Change That
By the 1600s the English people won political liberties, and trial by jury. That were largely unknown elsewhere. By the time the idea got to North America it was useless. It first originated from King John who was forced to be king. In the 1760s there were three types of colonies in America. When it came to voting only a few people were allowed to vote. White men that had property. Women, servants, landless owners, and African Americans weren’t allowed to vote. The New England colonies only gave some people a choice to vote in government.
That is how the government worked in the New England colonies.
