mass reflections

Below are some reflections of our All Saints Day mass earlier this week, as told by our fourth graders.

In the homily, I learned that although we make mistakes, no matter what, God will always love us, just like Father Gordan’s uncles. In the homily, Father Gordan talked about his two favorite uncles. Although they were never married, they both loved each other dearly-but sometimes they didn’t show that. Sometimes when he came to visit them they would be in the midst of an argument, or they would just be straight up ignoring each other. Yet Father Gordan sat there with them and the two uncles would have a conversation with each other, but through him. The same thing is with us, God, and the saints. Sometimes we distance ourselves from God, but when we pray to the saints, they will strengthen our bound with God again. So, no matter what, God will always love all of us, just like Father Gordan’s uncles.

Elena 4th grade

Father Gordan taught me that no matter what we do, God will always forgive us. He loves us no matter what. God will never ever get mad at us. God will never give us what we want, he will give us what we need. When we grow up, God is always watching over us. God gave us a life, a home and a roof. Don’t forget- love God, praise God, and don’t forget God. He loves us no matter what happens.

Ella 4th grade

The homily taught us that the saints are very important people in Heaven. We can pray to the saints for forgiveness and for help. No matter what we do or say, God will always forgive our sins. It isn’t about what we want, it’s about what we need. God will give us what we need not so much what we want. Even though not all people are saints in Heaven, we can still pray to them for help or to do something. The saints intercede for us for our own needs and forgiveness. As Father Gordan said, we need people to be peacemakers. We can bring all people tougher as the saints once did. That is what the Homily meant to me.

safety patrol

We are so fortunate to have students assist us in the morning as Safety Patrols. This is a service we had a few years ago, before COVID. These fourth and fifth grade students help our carline run more efficiently in the morning and ensure students are moving safely in the building and along the sidewalks in the afternoon. Thank you to all the students who have agreed to serve and to Mrs. Insua and Mr. Flynn for coordinating our Safety Patrols.

report cards

The first trimester ends tomorrow! Wow! That means we are 1/3 of the way done with the current school year. Parents of students in kindergarten through grade 8 can expect their child(ren)'s report card to be sent via email next Friday, November 12th.

Calendar Change

Please note that there has been a change to the calendar. WE WILL DISMISS AT NOON ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WILL NOT BE AFTERCARE THAT DAY! All students will need to be picked up between 12 and 12:30 on Friday, November 19th. Thank you for your cooperation.

Thanks to all who purchased poinsettias from our PTO. This is our first year conducting this fundraiser, and we are very grateful for the overwhelming support of our community. Our SJCS PTO raised more than $1,200 from this fundraiser.

Poinsettias will be available for pick up on Tuesday, November 30th from 2pm-4pm in room #2 (across the street near the church office). If you ordered a poinsettia, please make plans to pick it up between 2 and 4 on the 30th.

field trips

Teachers are beginning to plan field trips for all grade levels kindergarten through grade 8. We will definitely share information regarding field trips as they are planned, most will be in the spring. Parents interested in helping as chaperones are reminded that you must be fingerprinted through the Diocese of Orlando to join us on a field trip. The fingerprint process could take several weeks. Please don't delay. If you think you may want to join your child on his/her field trip, please schedule your fingerprints today.

incidental billing

Our school currently uses the Incidental Billing feature in FACTs management. This allows us to bill for things like field trips and student activities by class. We are also billing for extended care through FACTs as well. This does not affect your tuition account at all.

If you use before or aftercare you may be familiar with this feature already. If your class is ordering lunch, or attending a field trip, you will be billed for the cost instead of having to send the funds into the office with your student, or making a special trip to the school to pay. If you have auto pay set up on your incidental billing account you do not have to do anything else. If you have questions about incidental expenses please call Mrs. Brown in the school office or by email at sbrown@stjosephwhschool.org

St. Joseph Prayer

O Blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, protector of Mary, the virgin Mother of God, I choose you this day to be my special patron and advocate and I firmly resolve to honor you all the days of my life. Therefore, I humbly ask you to receive me as your client, to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction, to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus, and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death. Amen.
