Vision Statement
Happy Friday Families
Reminder:
There will be no school for students on Friday, 12-3-21. This is a Teacher Work Day.
Students will have a 1/2 day on Wednesday, 12-8-21 in the pm only. Dismissal will begin at 12:10 pm, 11:30 am ASD. Lunch will not be served.
Snow Gear/Winter Weather:
Students are always excited about snow. We will be heading outside for recess every day, as long as the temperature is 15 degrees (with wind chill). Please be sure to dress your children appropriately! Children need to have snow boots if they want to play in the snow. They need to have snow pants on if they are going to be laying down, rolling around and doing all that other fun snow stuff. If your child does not have boots, they will be staying on the black top during recess (no boots = no snow).
Please be sure to label all your children's winter gear. It is best if the children have different shoes as well, so we can leave the wet boots in the hall. As always, no throwing snow!
Helpful Hints:
- Send snow gear in a separate (not disposable) bag. It is hard to try to repack everything in backpacks or flimsy bags that tear.
- Send in shoes if your child wears boots to school. Dry shoes are more comfortable and will not track mud/snow through the classroom.
- Label everything. It is much faster/easier to return lost items when they have a name.
- Practice independence at home. Can your child put on and zip their jacket on their own? Can your child turn the sleeves of their jacket right side out if they are backwards? Help your child practice these skills at home so that they are successful at school.
Superintendent Message to the Community Reminder:
Our Superintendent sent a message on 11/30/21 that includes the following information:
The district has a social-emotional assistance hotline at (734) 744-2737 and email SES@livoniapublicschools.org.
We recognize that even with these safety procedures in place, security issues can still arise; therefore, we ask that anyone in our school community—students or adults—report any concern or threat to an LPS staff member. We also want to remind parents and students about the mechanism in place throughout our state to do so: the “OK2SAY” Tip Line. It is a 24-hour program designed to empower students, parents and the community to report these concerns so that appropriate local personnel can respond. Find information at https://www.michigan.gov/ok2say/.
Please see the important attachments to this email with information for parents, which may be helpful as you support your child and family in discussing tragedies of this nature.
Physical Education with Ms. Plum
We are working hard in Physical Education. We are preparing for our All School Holiday Dance Party. Dancing - doing rhythmic movements and patterns to music - is an amazing cardiovascular workout. Ask your student to show you their Jingle Bells and Jingle Bell Rock dances.
4th Graders - Go to coldiscool.org to apply for a free ski/snowboarding passport. Winter is a fun time to be active outside with the whole family.
Enjoy the December 25 workout challenge. Try to complete the workout once each day.
LMC with Mr. Pinta
Kindergarten through second grade students have spent much of the last couple of weeks working on logging in to our desktop computers as well as drag and drop skills using the mouse in the computer lab. Third and Fourth grade have worked on typing skills, and cut and paste shortcuts. This week we were back in the LMC studying author Aaron Reynolds. Next week it is back to the lab to apply what we learned this week about this children's author. Please be sure to remind your child to return their books to school and then the library.

December Lunch Menu
Free and Reduced Meal Application
While all LPS enrolled students will receive meals at no cost this coming school year, we encourage all families to fill out the Free and Reduced Meal Application every year. This application is critical in determining the amount of funding our district receives from a variety of State and Federal supplemental programs. Please visit the LPS website, go to the Departments tab, and find the Food Service link. Take the time to fill it out today!
