Kindergarten Orientation
Dear Kindergarten Parents,
Kindergarten Orientation will take place on Tuesday, August 14th. Each family will sign up for one appointment for their child. Please sign up for your appointment by clicking on your child's teacher link at the bottom of this section. Appointments will begin at 8:45 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. in the teacher's classroom. The appointment will be 15 minutes long. During the appointment, many beginning of the year assessments will be administered in a 1:1 setting with your child. This format allows our kindergarten teachers the opportunity to begin building positive relationships with each of our students. Our assessments will also be more valid as they will be given with just one student in the classroom instead of having a classroom full of students while assessing.
It is critical that families are prompt because appointments are scheduled back to back. The appointment will not be a parent teacher conference, and no results will be shared during this appointment due to time constraints. School supplies should not be brought to the appointment. All school supplies can be brought to Meet the Teacher Night that evening (August 14th) from 5:00-7:00 PM.
During your child’s appointment, parents will complete a beginning of the year survey for your child’s kindergarten teacher. Also, families will view a short video message. The video message will explain important Lakeview procedures and explain what a typical day is like. After viewing the video message, families are welcome to stop by the main office with further questions.
We look forward to meeting all of our newest Lions next week!

Meet the Teacher Night
Lakeview will hold Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, August 14th from 5:00-7:00 PM. Our students and parents will have the opportunity to meet teachers, bring in school supplies, and receive a brief summary of the educational program for the school year.
Due to parking limitations, please consider carpooling. If your child will be a walker, give him or her the opportunity to become familiar with their route as a family. It is extremely important that students know whether they are a Westwind or Fox Ridge Subdivision walker.
LVE PTO News
Help us stock the teachers’ lounge! Teachers work extra hard the first few weeks so let’s keep them hydrated and provide them with plenty to munch on. Drop snacks and drinks off at the PTO table on Meet the Teacher night. Thank you for showing our teachers we appreciate all they do for our kids!
The first PTO meeting for the year will be September 13th in the library. Mark your calendars-we’d love to see you there!

If you have not done so already, please consider signing up for Parent Portal. Parent Portal is a secure Internet-based website that allows you to access your student's attendance, lunch account, and academic grades (for students in grades 3-12). The Wentzville R-IV School District has adopted Parent Portal as a means to help create and maintain a strong relationship between home and school, as this partnership is vital to students' success. Frequently Asked Questions
What are the school hours?
Lakeview Elementary School begins instruction at 8:20 a.m. and concludes at 3:20 p.m.
What time do the front doors lock each day?
To keep our campus safe, the front doors are locked each day at 8:20 a.m. After this time, anyone wanting to enter the building must use the Aiphone. Everyone must show a photo identification in order to enter.
What is the earliest time a student can enter building?
Students are allowed to enter the building at 8:00 a.m.
What is the latest time I can pick up a student from the office for dismissal?
Students are not allowed to be picked up from the office after 3:00 p.m.
What is the best way to contact my child's teacher?
We ask that you do not interrupt instruction. Throughout the school day, teachers are engaged with students in the classroom, therefore the best way to contact them is by leaving a voicemail, sending a note, writing in the planner, or sending an email. Our staff is committed to returning your calls and emails in a timely manner. Teachers are pleased to arrange an appointment during plan time, or before or after school to discuss your child’s academics or educational needs. To leave a voicemail for your child’s teacher, call the school at 636-332-2923, press the star (*) sign and enter the voicemail number for your child’s teacher to leave a message. If you do not know the number, push the pound (#) sign, enter the first few letters of the teacher’s last name and follow the directions given.
How does a late arrival to school work?
Students should be in the classroom by 8:20 a.m. When they arrive after that time, they are considered tardy and will need to be signed in by a parent or guardian. They will be given a pass to class. While we understand that it is unavoidable for a student to be tardy on occasion, it is very important they be at school on time. Valuable instruction time is lost when children are late to class.
How does parent pick-up work?
All students will be directed to the gymnasium for parent pick up. You are advised to stay in your vehicle and your child(ren) will be called and escorted out to your vehicle.
Parents, please be advised that the staff will not release your child for an early release after 3:00 p.m. Students should NOT be picked up at the end of the day to avoid the parent pick-up line. We cannot express enough the importance that all students complete their full day of instruction.
How does perfect attendance work?
It is important to remember “perfect” means being here every minute of every day we have school. Any time a student is tardy or leaves early counts against perfect attendance.
How can I volunteer in the school?
Lakeview Elementary is always happy to have parents volunteer in the classroom, or assist with field trips. All volunteers must be approved by completing the District Volunteer Registration form and having a child abuse search on file at school.
Volunteer forms should only be completed by those wishing to assist in the classroom or attend a field trip. Attending a school performance or having lunch with your child does not require a background check. Feel free to pick up a form from your child’s classroom on Meet the Teacher Night on August 14, 2018 or access the form through the District website.
How do I make changes to my contact information and email address on Parent Portal?
Parents may make changes through the parent portal for their email, telephone numbers and emergency contacts. Addresses must be changed in person with office personnel.
What if I have forgotten my Parent Portal password?
Please call the office to request your password to be reset. Once the password is reset, you will receive an email with the Parent Portal login information.
What if I don't have access to Parent Portal?
Click this link: https://mo02202303.schoolwires.net/cms/lib/MO02202303/Centricity/Domain/98/Parent%20Web%20Reg.%20Form.pd.pdf and complete the form. In order to initiate access, you will need to bring the completed form and an ID to the office. You will then receive an email with detailed instructions on how to access your child's information.
Back to School Fair- Saturday, August 4
The Wentzville School District will host the eighth annual “Back to School Fair” for Wentzville School District families on Saturday, August 4th from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Timberland High School. The event is free for District families and will feature over 100 vendors, free school supplies, free first aid kits (thanks to St. Charles County Ambulance District), free games and fun activities for children.
Last year’s event drew over 3,500 people, and over $8,500 worth of school supplies were given away to District students.
As part of the Fair, the Kiwanis Club of West St. Charles County is sponsoring a free pancake breakfast in the cafeteria, and any donations to help defray costs would be greatly appreciated. MoCHIP (Missouri Child Identification Program) representatives will be on hand providing free child ID kits that include a disk with the child’s information, digital photograph, digital fingerprints and vital information necessary for authorities in the event of abduction. Also included in the kit are a dental bite impression and two laminated ID cards. Parents are encouraged to fill out the MoCHIP paperwork prior to the fair to save time.
While the event is free, families are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate at the door to Operation Food Search which serves local families in need.
WSD Child Nutrition Information
The WSD Child Nutrition Department has been hard at work planning new, delicious and nutritious options for school meals. The WSD Board of Education voted unanimously earlier this year to opt out of the National School Lunch Program in an effort to improve meal offerings and increase the number of students who eat breakfast and lunch in our school cafes.
What can you expect with the changes? Elementary students will see more consistency with their menus with their top-selling favorites on each day as well as some new and exciting entrees that we can’t wait for you to try. Secondary students can look forward to a college-type cafeteria experience with specialty lines that have all of their favorites, as well as some brand new items that we think they will love.
The District will still continue to offer free and reduced priced meals to those who qualify and the emphasis will continue to be to provide every student access to nutritious, well-balanced meals each day. By opting out, the Child Nutrition Department will not be bound by the excessive requirements around calories, sodium and whole grains which will result in many new, delicious (but still nutritious!) options for students. We can’t wait for you to see – and TASTE – the transformation to our school cafes! For a complete list of Frequently Asked Questions, visit: https://tinyurl.com/cnFAQs2018.
