Nurse's Corner
We have seen a substantial increase in ill students this week in the school community. Most students are complaining of a belly bug, fever, cough/congestion and headache lasting a minimum of 3 days. Some of those cases have turned out to be influenza A.
Influenza A starts quickly with fever, chills, body aches, headache, cough, runny or stuffy nose, and sore throat. Illness usually lasts 3 to 7 days. Children may develop ear infections, pneumonia, or croup as a result of influenza infection.
If you think your child has the flu, tell your childcare provider and/or call the school. Keep your child home from childcare and school until 24 hours after fever is gone (without the use of a fever reducing medicine) and your child is healthy enough for routine activities.
Our custodial staff has been doing extra cleaning as we try to battle the illness in our building. Please remind your children that with all things prevention is best. Encourage them to wash hands often and stay home if they aren't feeling well and avoid going to that friend's house if they are sick.
Book Blast For Pre K - 8th Grade
Monday, December 5th they will learn about the Book Blast Program, literacy, and the importance of having their own books at home. Monday night we ask you to take 7 minutes to help build your child's home library.

Once again this year we are providing homework help for students grade 7th-12th every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15-4:15. This is a great opportunity for students to get caught up on missing or incomplete work and get extra help in areas they may need.
