A Note from Ms. Graves

Dear Families,

It has been a busy week back for sure but here are some of the Fun Times we had this past week:

  • We wrote and signed a classroom contract using all of the ideas collected from our communities unit
  • We began to talk about our classroom iPads and how we will earn our iPad licenses next week
  • We had our first out door recess of the year
  • We gave away some withdrawn library books
  • We learned there are 100 centimeters in a meter and that our pinky is 1 cm wide and our armspan is 1 meter wide, we call these MENTAL BENCHMARKS
  • We continued to work on our design projects in Explore Time: students may bring in materials to add to their design with your approval

Please note that I have been selected to attend a conference out of the country from October 22nd - 25th. Unfortunately this means I will miss the parent teacher conference window. I understand this may put a bit more strain on your schedule but it also allows us to meet earlier.

Warm Regards

At Home Tip: Practice measuring two objects in centimeters and comparing their lengths. Ask questions like, how much longer or shorter is one object than the other. This will really help students with our math standard for next week.
