What you need to know...
2018-2019
School Hours
You can enter the building beginning at 7:05 a.m. First block begins at 7:30. Dismissal will be at 2:23 p.m. and fifth block dismissal is at 2:55 p.m.
School Roadways and Parking Lots:
Pedestrians have the right of way at all times.
You may not park in the front loop at any time.
Student Drop Offs:
When dropping off students, the driveway loops you around to the front of the building. Please stay to the inside of the loop when driving through. Be very cautious when entering and exiting the driveways – there is a student crosswalk located off of the Wiedrick Road entrance.
Bus Driveway:
The buses use the driveway and loop located off of Eddy Road (the athletic complex entrance). Please do not park or drive in this entrance during morning drop off and afternoon pick up times.
South Parking Lot:
This parking lot is reserved for after school, or non-school day activities, typically athletic events. Students may not park in this lot during the school day without permission.
Student parking:
Students wishing to park in school lots must fill out a student driver permission form (available in the main office and on the website) the first week of school. There is a four-day grace period for parking. Student vehicles parked in the lot without a parking permit after September 7th will be towed.
Building Entrance
Only the main entrance is to be used to enter the building. Please use the Wiedrick Road driveway and park in the North Parking Lot (not the bus loop) when you come to the building during the school day.
Visitors/Security
Ruben A. Cirillo High School is using a visitor management system called Raptor. The system provides an overall safer environment for our students and staff by enabling us to check visitors, contractors, and volunteers in the high school building. All visitors to Ruben A. Cirillo High School will need to present a valid ID to be scanned into the Raptor system. Please use the link below for information from Principal Mahoney regarding acceptable IDs and procedures, or contact the main office.
Visitor Management System Information From Principal Mahoney
After being buzzed into the building, all visitors must report immediately to the main office regardless of your reason for visiting. The office staff will assist you and determine who may have access to the building and for what reasons. If you have a pre-scheduled appointment you must still report to the main office. Alumni who wish to visit may do so after 2:23 and are encouraged to contact the teacher(s) they wish to see in advance and arrange a meeting time. We are sorry for the inconvenience that these measures create, but it is important that the school is safe and secure for students and staff. Your understanding is appreciated.
Advisement
All students are assigned to advisement from 8:58-9:33 every day. Students will generally be assigned to the same teacher until their senior year. During advisement, teachers will take attendance, students will hear the day’s announcements and then they will be allowed to work with teachers as necessary.
Students assigned to PLTW IED at the Middle School or Pal Mac courses
PLTW Intro to Engineering Design class with Mrs. Ozminkowski is held at the Middle School. Students with this course on their schedule should get off the bus at the Middle School on A days and report to the Tech room. A shuttle bus will pick them up at 9:00 and return them to the High School for the remainder of advisement.
Students attending courses at Pal-Mac will ride their normal bus to school in the morning, get off the bus at the High School and wait in the main office hallway for their shuttle to Pal Mac.
Seniors
Seniors will be assigned to one of three teachers in the cafeteria for advisement. During advisement, the cafeteria will be a senior advisement only. There, students will receive information specific to the senior class – there are many announcements, events and documents throughout the year. It will also be a more relaxed atmosphere as a privilege for seniors in good standing. Students: enjoy and use your time wisely.
