MMS News & Notes
October 14, 2022
From the Principal
MMS Parents and Guardians,
Good afternoon! Things are moving right along at MMS and in a really positive direction. The entire building has put a strong emphasis on student expectations in and out of the classroom settings and the students are responding very well. Teachers continue to comment how much they are enjoying the kids and the positive attitudes they are bringing to school each day. We have also explored several ways this year to bring some fun back into the building that we enjoyed pre-Covid. Spirit Week, teachers kissing cows, advisory activities, a Pep Rally and our annual grade level kickball tournament are just some of the events that have helped create the most positive learning environment.
I also wanted to remind you of some important dates so you can plan accordingly.
- October 28 is an Act 80 Day and school will not be in session for the students.
- November 2 is the end of the 1st marking period and approximately only two weeks away. Please take a few minutes to look at your child's grades in Sapphire to be sure all work has been submitted.
- MMS parent conferences will occur on November 9 and 10. Both of these days will be half days for MMS students only. Additional information will be sent to all parents in the upcoming weeks to sign up to meet with your child's teachers.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and you can enjoy some beautiful Fall weather.
Joel A. Yohn, MMS Principal

It’s the most wonderful time of the year….Book Fair time! The MMS Book Fair will be held October 31 to November 4. We need your help setting up on October 28, checking kids out, and tearing down. We have one day with after-school shopping hours (4-7pm on November 3). We’ll once again be holding a raffle kids can enter to win one of 10 $25 gift cards to buy books of their choice at the Book Fair. Entries are $1, and kids can buy the tickets anytime the Book Fair is open. We’ll draw the winners on Thursday at lunch.
Breakfast
Please be reminded to inform your child that breakfast will be free for all students through the end of the 2022-2023 school year. Students will be eligible for (1) free breakfast per day. This change is applicable to breakfast only and will not affect a student’s eligibility status for lunch (free, reduced, or paid). This change will become effective October 1, 2022.
