Tool for Teacher Reflection- "The Engagement Wheel"

This resource would be great for all teachers to reflect on their levels of engagement, but would be especially useful for those teachers who made their Teacher Development Plans for Domain 3c: Student Engagement.

We will use this tool as the focus of our next learning walk.

Pointer Profile: Senorita Hannah Bray

Senorita Hannah Bray started her teaching career in 2007 at Eastern Technical High School. From there, she became a Pointer, and we are lucky for that. Senorita Bray has taught everything from Spanish I to Spanish V, which is AP level for college credit. Hannah studied at Howard Community College where she earned her AA, Towson University where she earned her BA, and Walden University where she earned her Masters Degree. Hannah went into teaching in the first place because she was inspired by her mother who was passionate in her practice.

In addition to her teaching career, Hannah is a top-notch soccer coach at Dundalk Community College. Hannah has also coached basketball and indoor track here at SPHS. In addition to these athletic endeavors, she is the advisor to SGA as well as the Drill Team. Where leadership is concerned, Hannah serves as the World Language Department Chair and the Social Committee Chair for SPHS.

Traveling and playing sports are two of Hannah's passions; she has even taken groups of SPHS students abroad for the last four years. Thanks to the efforts of Ms. Bray for organizing these trips, SPHS students have been provided with life-long memories.

When asked what her favorite teaching memory was, Hannah could not pinpoint just one , but she did offer " I love when I get letters or hear from former students when they have the “ah ha” moment and realize the benefits of what I taught them or recognize the impact that I had in their lives. It is heartwarming and keeps me motivated." She hopes that one day her students will remember her simply as "supportive," which seems like an easy way to describe Senorita Hannah Bray.
