Writing - Feature Articles
Students finished their immersion into feature articles right before Spring Break. Our noticings included: short stories or scenerios at the beginning, facts throughout the middle, and ending with an opinion. We also noticed the text features: catchy titles, subheadings, pictures, fact boxes - just to name a few.
This week, students will work to choose a topic and will begin the work of creating the focus of their feature article and researching the information needed about their topic. Since MAP prep has begun, computer availability is at a premium, so students will be mainly researching information from books and magazines.
Social Studies - Influential Missourians
This week, students will be learning about influential and famous Missourians. Students will be practicing their research and note taking skills during this time to prepare for the research they will be doing on their feature article piece.
