Christmas Parties
Your child's teacher will contact you if they are in need of treats or volunteers. If your child's teacher requests treats, please ensure they are individually wrapped and store-bought. This is for student safety and allergies. If you are asked to volunteer in a classroom, you will need to bring your ID to check in and ensure you have a background check on file. If you are selected to volunteer, please arrive when your teacher requests you to. You may park in the overflow parking in the old middle school lot if our front and side lots are full. Please do not park in the bus lanes in the north lot. Please enter through Door 1 if you are volunteering.
Cooler Weather Approaching
Also, we do go outside for recess most days that the wind chill is above 10 degrees. On our cooler days, I would highly recommend that students wear jackets and cover their legs and feet for recess and at the bus stops.
If a student forgets his/her coat on cold days, we will provide one for them.

Student Council Reindeer Dust Sale!
Oak Hill Student Council will be selling Reindeer Dust as a fundraiser for Riley Children’s Hospital. We are asking for donations of glitter and oatmeal to make “Reindeer Dust.” Please send to school to Mrs. Blink or Mrs. McDermott the week of Dec. 5-9.
This will be for sale for $1.00 each December 12th through the 16th, or until we run out. Thank you so much for your donations! Your generosity positively impacts children who stay at Riley Children's Hospital in Indy.
News from the First Grade Flock
The first half of the school year has been busy in first grade. In reading, we are finishing Unit 2. We have learned all of our short vowels, r-blends, s-blends, digraphs, and l blends. We have learned about rereading stories to understand, visualizing while reading, and finding the main idea with details when reading nonfiction stories. We have written personal narratives and are working on fantasy writing. In math, we have learned about different ways to make 10, measurement, doubles facts, adding and subtracting 10 from a number, and different strategies for finding addition and subtraction problems. We also went on our first field trip to County Line Apple Orchard!
In December we will be doing Holidays Around the World. Students will discover how other countries around the world celebrate holidays in December. We will be learning about Italy, Sweden, Germany, and France. We are looking forward to traveling around the world this month!
News from PTO
December 7 Spirit Sticks will be on sale for $1 each.
December 9 is a PTO Movie Night with the Polar Express being shown in the Oak Hill gym.

District Staff Recognition
From Mr. Anderson:
Please spread the word about a new aspect of our district-wide Staff Recognition program. The link is also found on the Tri-Creek homepage under ABOUT under STAFF RECOGNITION.
Here's the system and how it works:
Form submissions are checked daily. Once the submission is received at the district level, the principal or department head is notified. A nicely-printed card is made with the testimonial on it. The superintendent then schedules a time with the principal or department head for a "staff appreciation ambush" where the recognized staff member is approached unannounced, presented with a welcoming chant, the testimonial is read aloud to the staff member in front of students and colleagues, and then the principal/supervisor presents the card to the staff member. Also, too, the staff member is highlighted at the school board meeting during the superintendent's report and the recognition is posted to the district website for the school year.
Students, parents, staff, and community members may all participate in recognizing our staff. This is but one additional way to highlight great work in our schools as we constantly endeavor to cultivate a more positive climate.
Thanks for your help in getting this program launched.
School Staff Appreciation
On the bulletin board in the lounge:
1. Quotable Quotes- write or print quotes that inspire you to share with all!
2. Kids Say the Darndest Things- share funny anecdotes from students
We will also continue with our Monthly Staff Appreciation! Use this Google link to nominate a fellow staff member! We have amazing teachers and staff who work daily to ensure our students are safe, cared for, and reach academic success. In order to honor their hard work, we will be doing a monthly staff appreciation recognition! We will accept nominations from parents or other staff members. One teacher and one support staff member will be randomly drawn each month to highlight them as teacher/staff member of the month! You are welcome to nominate as many adults as you wish or you can save nominations for another month! All nominees will be recognized, but those randomly drawn will get their picture along with the reason for the nomination posted to social media and Dojo. They will also receive a certificate to hang outside of their classroom door and a small gift of appreciation. This form will be live throughout the entire school year. Nominees will be selected at the end of each month. Please reach out to Mrs. Muha with any questions! bmuha@tricreek.k12.in.us
