PSAT
The PSAT is one of the best ways to prepare for standardized college entrance exams for several reasons:
The PSAT familiarizes test takers with test question format in reading, writing & language and mathematics.
The PSAT provides an opportunity for a "dress rehearsal" for test day. Test takers will test in a room with other test takers, under strict time limits with a proctor present.
The PSAT results can guide a student's test prep for future college entrance exams.
Colleges will not see a student's PSAT scores.
As a juniors, a test taker, might qualify for the National Merit Scholarship.
Colleges may try to recruit students based on their answers to the questionnaire and test results.
Boone County High School is offering the PSAT on Wednesday, October 14. The test will be given during the school day. The cost is $20 and checks should be made out to Boone County High School. To register, please complete this form and return it along with payment to the school counseling office by September 30.
Virtual Health Careers Event
College and Beyond -- The SAR -- What Is It and How Do I Get One?
When you get your SAR, be sure to review it carefully to make sure it’s correct. The schools your student listed on their FAFSA form will use this information to determine your students' eligibility for financial aid. A school may ask your family to verify the accuracy of your FAFSA data, so you and your student need to be sure the information is correct by double-checking the SAR.

FAFSA
The FAFSA or Free Applicant for Federal Student Aid should be filled out as soon as possible so that your family receives the highest amount of college aid. Your student can submit their FAFSA any time after October 1st of their senior year. Before you sit down to fill out this application online, make sure you have gathered all the necessary financial documents you'll need to answer every FAFSA question. This will make the process much more efficient and less frustrating to you and your student. Additionally, both the student and the parent will need an FSA ID before completing the FAFSA. Please visit this site to create an FSA ID.
Please note, some colleges that offer their own institutional aid on top of the Federal-Aid will require your student to complete and submit a different form in addition to the FAFSA. This is called the CSS Profile which is used by many of the top colleges and universities and has even more detailed financial questions to answer. Be sure to check the websites for each of your students’ colleges to determine what type of financial aid is available and what forms must be submitted to qualify for these funds.
