This is How We Roar!
- We exceeded our Typical Growth Target by 10% in Math, and 11% in Reading!
- Our 2nd and 5th grade students made huge gains, exceeding the Typical Growth Target in Math by 23% and 22% respectively!
- All of our grade levels met or exceeded the Typical Growth Target of 50% for the mid-year test in Reading.
- The percentage of students already meeting end-of-year proficiency targets increased by 12% in Math, and 8% in Reading.
You can help at home! Students are encouraged to complete i-Ready lessons at home in order to reach the goal of averaging 45 minutes of i-Ready instruction per subject, each week. Check out the i-Ready Family Center to find our more about how you can support your child's success.

Congratulations Wildcats!
Spelling Bee: Congratulations to Jacob Gueco, for winning our school Spelling Bee last month, and earning an opportunity to represent Westwood at the Regional Spelling Bee.
STEM Fair: We had some tough competition this year, so our STEM Fair winners should feel especially proud to have been selected to represent Wetwood at the MDUSD STEM Showcase. Congratulations to:
- 3rd Grade Winners: Wesley Ancheta (1st) and Morgan Bonner (2nd)
- 4th Grade Winners: Ellia Ngo (1st) and Kira Crabtree (2nd)
- 5th Grade Winners: Emmie Ahonen (1st) Jacob Gueco (2nd)
Instrumental Music Concerts: Our Wildcat musicians made us proud, as they performed at the annual CHS Orchestra and Band concerts recently. They have made amazing progress over the course of the year, lead by our Instrumental Music Teacher, Mrs. Karen Ashford.
Trimester 2 Awards: We are honoring students' achievements in Math, Language, Reading, Citizenship, PE, Science, and Attendance at our Trimester Awards assemblies. We are so proud of their hard work and perseverance!

Westwood Elementary, established in 1958, is a K-5 public school in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, with an enrollment of 315 students. In addition to our 11 General Education classrooms, we also host 3 classes for students enrolled in our Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing program, and 2 classes for students with moderate/severe disabilities. We are a diverse and caring community, with a dedicated staff and amazing students!
