New Market Elementary: Home of the Wolves
Message from Administration
Dear NMES Families,
What an amazing 11 days! It has been a joy to welcome 572 New Market Wolves to school. The school is buzzing with student learning and excitement. Our teachers are working hard to build connections, establish routines and procedures, and engage students in the exciting content they are teaching.
We appreciate students arriving at school on time and your patience as FCPS Transportation irons out kinks with bus routes. Consistently attending school every day and arriving on time is so important. Thank you for your support with ensuring your child is at school every day on time!
Dr. Lockard - Principal
Mrs. McGaha - Assistant Principal

New Faces at NMES
Yael Harris, Special Education Instructional Assistant: "Hello, my name is Yael Harris, but the students know me as Mrs. H. I was a substitute at NMES last school year, and became an SEIA at the end of the year. I am very excited to continue in that role this year as I have grown to love our wonderful community. I have several years of experience in special and general education. Last year I reentered the workforce after spending several years at home with my children, who now attend NMES. I have a daughter in 2nd grade, and a son in Kindergarten.
Beyond the school day my interests include traveling, rooting for the Washington Capitals, going to concerts, watching Jeopardy, and most of all reading as I am a huge bookworm."
New Faces at NMES
Amy Ghiglieri, Special Education Teacher: "I am so excited to be the new special education teacher! My position is shared between NMES and Deer Crossing Elementary. You will find me at NMES in the afternoons. I graduated with my bachelor's from Grove City College and received my master's from Georgia State University. I last taught in Georgia, then made a change to spend more time at home with my children. I am very excited to be back to teaching!
I have two sons who attend Deer Crossing and a daughter at Oakdale Middle. I am also the publisher of Macaroni KID Frederick and in my free time like to run, bake, spend time with my family, and play with our dog Huck. I am thrilled to be a part of the NMES community and cannot wait to get to know everyone!"
School Breakfast and Lunch Information for 2022 - 2023
Students will have to pay for meals based on their free and reduced status effective August 17th. Meal prices remain the same pre pandemic. Meal Benefit Applications (FARM) for 2023 is available online: https://www.fcpsnutrition.com/
Breakfast
Elementary - $1.60
Lunch
Elementary - $2.65
Below are reminders from FCPS Food and Nutrition Services:
- If you have already received notification of your child being approved for Free or Reduced-price meals (especially due to Direct Certification), do NOT complete an application.
- If you have received notification for some of your children but not others, do NOT fill out an application but contact the FNS office instead.
- If you know that will not qualify for meal benefits because your income is too high, you should NOT feel obligated to complete an application.
- If you are approved for Reduced-priced meals, Maryland state covers the reduced-price cost so you will not be charged for breakfast or lunch.
- The meal benefits cover full breakfast and lunch meals, but not snack/a la carte items for sale.
- Only families with carryover meal benefits through the “grace period” (Aug 17 – Sept 29, 2022) are those families directly certified last school year or families that actually applied and were approved for Free/Reduced-price benefits last school year. All other families went back to full pay status for meals.
COVID-19 Protocols and Procedures
Unfortunately, COVID-19 continues to spread throughout our region. Just as we did last year, we will continue to keep families apprised about positive COVID-19 cases reported to Frederick County Public Schools.
Our COVID-19 dashboard will be updated daily with the latest information. Positive cases reported to FCPS will reported from each school.
We will continue to utilize several mitigation strategies in an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19.
NMES Front Office Hours
Our NMES Front Office hours for the 2022 - 2023 school year will be 8:30 - 4:00 Monday - Friday. Our front office phone number is 240-236-1300. If you call between these hours one of our front office staff will be able to assist you. If you call before or after these hours there will not be staff available.
