A HUGE shout out to 8th Grade student, Abby Haldorson!

Environmental Science elective students participated in the Pilot Home Energy Action Talent (HEAT) Contest through the SPPS Energy Action Team. Through this contest, students created videos that explained the importance of saving energy and shared different energy saving strategies.

Congratulations Abby!

6th Grade Becoming Minnesotan Project Videos!

6th graders began the year studying immigration in Minnesota Studies. Many students turned in amazing iMovies for the Becoming Minnesotan project. Students either interviewed a family member about their family's immigration story or they researched an immigrant group that has made Minnesota home. I asked students who would like to share their iMovies and these students asked to share their iMovies with all of you. Enjoy!

Counselors' Corner

Did you know that school counselors in SPPS talk with students each year about personal safety? This includes body boundaries, safe and unsafe touch, and how to report unsafe situations to adults. We hope the resource found here is a helpful guide for you to talk to your kids about safe and unsafe touch. It includes advice for how to have the conversations and what language to use at different age levels. These conversations can and should be recurring so don't feel pressured to cover it all at once or get worried if your child does not engage at first. We want to open the lines of communication so they feel safe talking to us.
