Avenger Announcements

For Avenger Students and Families - February 16, 2023

Message from Mr. Mercer

Avenger Families:

We hope that your students have had a great start to the second semester. We have been busy planning for the 2023-24 school year. Our students had the opportunity to make elective course requests for next school year at the end of last month. Make sure to check your course requests for next year in Parent Portal March 3-7.

In March, many of our CTSOs will compete at their state level conferences. We look forward to their many successes. We are very proud of our Mock Trial students who won 1st place in their regional competition. Thank you for your support of our student organizations!

We are also proud to have received the honor today of being recognized as an AP Honor School again. We love seeing the dedication our students have to their classes and love to celebrate their hard work!

Have an Amazing Avenger (long) Weekend!

Marvel Academy: We will offer a Saturday session on March 4 from 9-11 AM in the Innovation Lounge. Students can use this time to make up missing work or get tutoring from teacher and peer tutors. Please reach out to your student's teacher if you feel they could benefit from this time.

Dress for Success: Students will dress for success on March 1 to demonstrate standard 1 in their CTAE courses. All dates for spring semester can be found below.

Early Release: Students will have an Early Release Day on March 9. The AAI school day ends at 12:50 on this day. Buses will run their normal routes.

Professional Learning Day: Students will have no school on March 10 while staff are involved in professional learning. School will be back in session on March 13th.

Testing Calendar: AAI has finalized the May testing calendar so parents and students can plan ahead. The calendar includes EOC, AP and final exam dates. Please CLICK HERE to view the calendar.

Course Registration for the 2023-24 School Year

Parent Portal will be open again from March 3-7 for students to verify their courses for the 23-24 school year. Changes may have been made from course request change forms completed in January. Please note that some changes cannot be approved due to prerequisite requirements for courses and space limitations.

The Course Request Change form will again be open during this window of time for students who may have missed the first opportunity to request changes. Changes will be made as needed after the window closes.

Bus Transportation Reminders

The Transportation department would like to remind families that students are only allowed to ride their assigned bus and may not ride another bus to go to a different location. For safety reasons the school system needs to be able to locate students at all times. This is not possible if students ride buses they have not been assigned to.

Marvel Time is Every Day During Lunches!

Extra Help at Lunch: Lunch this year is 45 minutes long to provide students with enough time to eat lunch and get help. Teachers will sign students up, but students and parents may also make a request for a student to be signed up for a specific class. Reach out to your student's teacher if you want additional information.

Here is what your student can do during this time in the Innovation Lounge:

  • Make up a missing quiz, test or assignment (teacher must sign students up for this)
  • Get extra help from our tutors
  • Have quiet study time
  • Work quietly on group assignments
  • Visit the Wellness Room

This program is helping our students to be successful in all of their courses this year.
