Prestigious Honor! AHS Wind Ensemble Performing In San Antonio
The Argyle High School Wind Ensemble will have a special performance on a grand stage on Friday. The Wind Ensemble has been selected as the Texas Music Educators Association AAAA Honor Band and will be performing in San Antonio at the Lila Cockrell Theatre on Friday, Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. in conjunction with the annual TMEA convention.
The Argyle High School Wind Ensemble will be one of only three High School Concert Bands state-wide to perform as an Honor Band this year. Over 20,000 music educators from across the state and country will be in attendance.

No School: Student Holiday Friday, Feb. 10
Argyle ISD students will be off on Friday, Feb. 10. This will also serve as a campus professional development day for teachers and staff.
Additionally, Argyle ISD will use one of its two bad weather days on Monday, Feb. 13. All schools and offices will be open on regular daily schedules. The second bad weather day is Monday, April 10. If AISD does not miss another day due to bad weather prior to that date, it will serve as a school holiday for all students and staff.
The district is only using one of its bad weather days at this point due to additional minutes built into the instructional calendar.

This week marks National School Counseling Week. We are recognizing all of our campus counselors this week and thanking them for the tremendous impact they make with our Eagle students.
Argyle ISD school counselors make a significant impact on the success and development of students. They provide support and guidance and help plan their futures. We are grateful for our dedicated staff of counselors and will recognize them at the Feb. 20 regular School Board meeting.

Argyle High School all-state choir students Aimee Gray and Levi Pabst were featured recently in the Denton Record-Chronicle for their outstanding achievement. Be sure to read more about them and read their comments about their all-state honor!
Aimee was chosen All-State Treble Choir - Alto 2 and Levi was selected All-State Mixed Choir - Bass 1.

Welcome Back, Eagles!
We were excited to welcome back our Eagles students on Monday this week! We hope everyone enjoyed the extra time off last week due to the inclement winter weather. Argyle ISD schools and offices were closed the entire week. The district will use one of its two bad weather days on Monday, Feb. 13 due to the lost instructional time.

Campuses Celebrate 100th Day!
Here's a day that is always a fun one on the elementary campuses - the 100th Day of School! Well, the winter weather forced a change of schedule for our campuses. They certainly weren't missing this celebration and rescheduled for this week at Hilltop, South and West Elementary Schools and had fun in a variety of ways!
STATE BOUND! AHS Debate Students Finish 2nd
Congratulations to Argyle High School students Grant Parris and Addison High! Both placed second at the Class 5A District 7 Cross-Examination Meet held at Grapevine High school.
Both will now represent Argyle High School at the state meet in Austin on March 17-18. We are wishing all the best for Grant and Addison!
School Board Adopts 10-Year Strategic Growth Plan
The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the adoption of a 10-year strategic growth plan at the Tuesday, Jan. 17 regular School Board meeting.

The plan includes elementary, middle and high school growth strategies and priorities. Among them, the high school configuration would include the district splitting into two separate 9th-12th grade high schools when AHS reaches 2,700 students enrolled. AHS currently has 1,474 students in grades 9-12.
District administration and the Board of Trustees will review and revise the growth plan as needed. Both will also have regular collaboration with the district's demographers and financial advisor.
"Our greatest intention is to provide the best opportunity for our children to be well educated and well-rounded citizens that will one day be leading us," School Board President Sam Slaton said. "This 10-year Strategic Growth Plan presented by district administration and adopted unanimously by the Argyle ISD Board of Trustees, is a living document that will serve as a guide to address the future growth needs of our district."

Remedy A Cappella Takes 2nd Place at Competition!
Congratulations to Remedy A Cappella on its 2nd-place finish at the ICHSA (International Championship of High School A Cappella) Quarterfinals Competition this past weekend at Rockwall High School.
Remedy will advance to compete in the Semifinals on March 11. Congratulations to Levi Pabst for winning Outstanding Vocal Percussion! Best of luck to these talented singers as they continue on in their competition season!

2023-2024 Academic Calendar: Start Date on Thursday
Next year's 2023-2024 school calendar will include a school start a little different than years past. Next year the first day of school will be on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023. This year, school started on Monday, Aug. 15. Please note: AHS Graduation has not yet been set.

TONIGHT! AHS Majestics Hosting Showoff
Come out and support your AHS Majestics tonight (Thursday, Feb. 9) at 6:30 p.m. in the Argyle High School Arena as they show off their routines to kick off their competition season. Best of luck to these amazing dancers at their first contest of the season!
The Majestics will compete at the Ascensions Dance Regional Competition at Marcus High School this Saturday, Feb. 11 in team categories including Lyrical, Jazz, Novelty, Pom as well as Solo and Ensemble competitions.
School Board Applications for May 2023 Election
The Argyle ISD School Board election will be held May 6, 2023. Applications are available online and at the Argyle ISD administration building, located at 6701 Canyon Falls Dr. in Flower Mound. The deadline to file for the election is Feb. 17, 2023 at 5 p.m.
The Trustee election will include Place 1, Place 2 and Place 3. Applications can be submitted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday at the administration building.

The Argyle Education Foundation's annual gala will be held Saturday, April 22. This year's event -- The Black Diamond Affair -- will be held at the Embassy Suites in Denton. The AEF is celebrating 20 years supporting Argyle ISD! AEF supports the district through raising funds to donate to AISD.

Argyle Soaring Again! UIL Lone Star Cup Update
The first update of the UIL Lone Star Cup standings were recently released. In Argyle's first year in Class 5A, the Eagles are currently ranked No. 2 overall! Argyle has 41 points and is two points behind first-place Lucas Lovejoy. Only seven schools in the state (all classifications combined) have scored 40 or more points to this point.
The current point totals include results from Team Tennis, Cross Country, Marching Band, Volleyball, Robotics BEST, Football, Congress and Spirit.
Great Finish! Argyle Swimmers Set Personal Records at Regionals
The Argyle High School swimmers had their best performances of the season at the UIL Class 5A Region II meet in Mansfield earlier this week.
Freshman Argyle High School freshman Zoey Bouquio (pictured) earned a place on the podium by taking two bronze medals in the 100 Breaststroke & 200 Individual Medley. Junior Reese Andrews finished 7th in the 100 Freestyle. Senior Joe Bernal took 9th in the 100 Backstroke. All three swimmers set personal records in their events. While they didn't qualify for the state meet, they did produce impressive showings and represented Argyle High School very well.

Wrestling Program Makes School History!
The Argyle High School wrestling team made school history this week! They hosted the District 5-5A meet at the AHS arena and a school-record 17 wrestlers qualified for the regionals. The Eagles took third as a team and the Lady Eagles finished fourth. The district meet included 15 teams.

Lady Eagles Begin Playoffs Monday Night!
The Argyle Lady Eagles' basketball team finished the regular season as undefeated District 7-5A champions. The Lady Eagles defeated Grapevine, Denton Ryan and Denton over the course of five days due to the rescheduling of two games. Argyle closed out the regular season Tuesday on Senior Night with a 61-29 victory over Denton.
The Lady Eagles are 30-3 and will face Midlothian in the Class 5A bi-district round Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Arlington ISD Athletics Center.
Argyle seniors Madi Lumsden, KK Jones, Ashlin Crabtree and Savannah Bennett were honored after the game. Congratulations Lady Eagle seniors!
The Eagles (23-9, 6-6 in district) fell in a hard-fought game vs. Denton 37-36. Argyle is in sixth place in very competitive District 7-5A. Argyle's seniors were also honored - Grayson Bernard, Evan Harbach, Boston Barnett and Hutch Burns.

National Signing Day Event Rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 13
Argyle High School's National Letter of Intent Signing Day event has been rescheduled to Monday, Feb. 13 at 3 p.m. in AHS Gym No. 2. The event was originally scheduled for last week but was postponed due to school being closed for winter weather. Argyle's signing class includes 15 student-athletes from five different sports.
