Guest Author Jessica Brody Visited Mesa Middle School
Jessica has sold over twelve novels for teens, tweens, and adults including 52 Reasons to Hate My Father, The Karma Club, My Life Undecided, and the three books in the Unremembered trilogy, the first of which is currently in development as a major motion picture by the producers of The Vampire Academy, Zero Dark Thirty, Life of Pi, and Slumdog Millionaire. In 2016, she will release two new contemporary novels, A Week of Mondays(August) and Boys of Summer (April), and in 2017, her debut middle grade novel entitled, Addie Bell’s Shortcut to Growing Up, will hit bookstore shelves.
Are You Interested in Joining Mesa's Debate Team????
Debate practices will be held once a week after school on Thursdays. If you are on a sports team already you can simply attend when you are available.
Debate competitions will be held on Saturday mornings once every 6 weeks at various district schools. Again, students are simply asked to attend when they can.
Club dues will be $30 per semester. That includes all of the practices and debate competitions, but does not provide for transportation to the Saturday events. If we were to make Nationals, the event itself would be included in the club dues but, food, transportation, and lodging would be extra cost.
Parent involvement is highly encouraged at both practices and competitions. We will need judges to help teams practice and to help the competitions run. Please email Mr. Mandrioli if you are interested in having your student join or if you simply have any questions: crmandrioli@dcsdk12.org
Mr. Mandrioli is also available for student questions in room C202.
