Congratulations Brandon Hunt, Principal, Whitney Elementary School

The Yakima School District is proud to announce that, beginning July 1, Brandon Hunt will serve as principal of Whitney Elementary School.

Mr. Hunt is the new principal at Whitney Elementary for the 2021-2022 school year, but he is not new to Whitney. He has served in the assistant principal role at Whitney Elementary and also at Adams Elementary for a combined six years.

Principal Hunt taught for five years at McKinley Elementary School prior to becoming a school leader.

Brandon received his Associate of Arts at Yakima Valley College, his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, and his Masters of Education in School Administration. He has been married for six years and has two amazing children.

Mr. Hunt believes in building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. He will focus on character education, social-emotional learning, fostering a safe learning environment, using data to inform instruction and strategies to increase students’ achievement and provide exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities for all students.

He will work to provide the students of Whitney the best possible opportunities in preparing them to be world-class citizens, ready to master the challenges of the 21st Century with a solid foundation created at school.

Brandon loves living in the valley where he grew up. He enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, family and friends, do-it-yourself projects, movies, music, and competing in beard competitions. ​
