Video Directions for Your Students
Record Videos of Your Screen
Our students and parents need help understanding what to do in this new remote learning environment. Videos help A LOT! Everyone now has a premium account for Screencastify. This allows you to record a video of your screen or yourself.
Use Screencastify to give your students video directions, just like you would in class! This is a great option because you can record your screen to show them which assignment you are talking about, and specifically what you expect of them on the assignment. You can even embed a window within a window using the embed webcam feature so students can see your face! It may be uncomfortable for you, but kids love to see a familiar face!
Here are some example Videos:
Student View in Google Classroom
It's important to record videos in student view since the Google Classroom layout looks a little different for students. Each campus has a demo student account you can use for Google Classroom. The accounts also have access to ClassLink, but they do not have working accounts for each of the apps.
"The most influential element in a classroom: the teacher. You work hard to build relationships and students like you. Putting your face into your digital assignments makes a personal connection with students, even when they are using a computer. When creating an assignment in Google Classroom consider adding a webcam video where you just say hello, give clarifying directions, words of encouragement, or offer tips and challenges." -- Alice Keeler
