Regarding Student Collections:
The SMS administration, staff, school board, parish, and several families have noticed that we have not been having our SMS students present at Mass to take up the School Collection once per month. This school tradition is so important! Our parish members love to see the school families at Mass and helping out. They are VERY generous and we rely on their monthly support to meet the school’s operating costs.
And yes, they respond more generously when our children are passing the basket.
Therefore, I have generated a schedule so that all families will have the opportunity/obligation to help out. Communication will come home from your teachers soon. Parents, if your children are unsure or shy, please help them and stay with them, knowing that soon, they will be able to do this themselves. The staff and myself will also take any students over to the church to “practice” before their scheduled time if they need a refresher or have never participated before. It is a wonderful way to be present in the church community. The Parishioners love to see you and your children at Mass and helping out.
Thank you so much,
Mrs. Beam
GIRLS ON THE RUN IS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER COACHES
Girls on the Run 2019 season starts the week of March 4th and we are looking for a few volunteer coaches!
The program is designed to inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind! Over the course of the 10 week program, coaches will guide the girls through a curricula of dynamic discussions, activities and running games aimed at developing confidence and promoting an appreciation of health and fitness. The program culminates with a celebratory 5K event in May. We need your help to make this program a success!
If you are ready to make a difference in the lives of our girls, please consider volunteering as a coach! For more information, contact Tammy Richards at tamikoch1@yahoo.com.

Fight the Winter Doldrums!
Fend off the winter doldrums and enjoy some good company and good conversation by joining the SMS Great Books Group. The GBG (GEE-BEE-GEE) is a newly formed adult reading group offering adults in the Saint Michael school and parish communities the opportunity to enjoy and be enriched by the great literature of western civilization. There is no cost or obligation to join the group.
The Great Books Reading group will meet next on Tuesday, January, 29, 2019 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at St. Michael School to continue a discussion of Walter van Tilburg Clark’s classic short story The Portable Phonograph. Missed the first reading? No worries! Clark’s work is a short story and can easily be read in less than a hour. Show Dates:

Show Title: TBA - something along the lines of “Topsy Turvy”, or “Delirious Dances”, or "Collide-a-scope”, or (email with suggestions)?
Show theme:
We live in a world where up is down, left is right, no means yes, and truth is hard to come by. Everyday we face polarization, abstraction of reality, fanaticism, and delirium. This year’s show will explore the “topsy turvy” world we live in through dances that experiment with irrational subject matter, illusions, magic-realism, and distortion. Perhaps by creating art that reflects our crazy world, we can impart beauty, humanity, and truth to our community.
AUDITIONS
We encourage all dancers 7+ to audition! You do not have to be enrolled in classes to participate in the show.
