HAPPENINGS OF THIS WEEK
Middle School Math
Students are learning math through "Pixar in a Box" on Khan's Academy. This week they learned about x and y coordinates and made this flip book using the same strategy.
Middle School Science
Middle School Ancient Cultures
Geometry
students continue to collect data needed in order to solve for the height of the wall of the JCC Building. Students have studied the Pythagorean Theorem and know how to use it to solve for the height; however, the catch is that they are missing key information. New geometry skills (special right triangles and trigonometry) are needed to find the missing information.
Middle School English
Middle School Science Art
Robots....robots....robots. We took the extra solar system kits, broke them up into pairs, and started a robot-making competition, to see which team can make the coolest robot. Working cooperatively, we are exploring aspects of assemblage, sculpture, and color theory.

Jonathan's impromptu rendering of the myth of Tantalus was right on the money. The students are reading a script in Latin, written in 1911. I am so pleased to see them parsing their lines, using the skills they've learned this year.
