MCA TESTING
MCA Information for VLS Students:
MCA testing for will be 5/14 for math and 5/21 for science for VLS students who have signed up for testing. It is important that students sign up for testing in advance so that we have proper staffing and space for students.
Please contact Elisabeth.fontana@spps.org if you have any questions.
IN Person Testing
8th grade science MCA testing will be May 10-13.
Please encourage your students to get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast so that they are able to focus.
MCA tests will be given using students’ iPads, so please help them remember to have their iPads charged every night so that they are ready for testing the following day.
Please reach out to Elisabeth.fontana@spps.org with any questions.

Emotional Intelligence
Don't neglect or take for granted the emotional life of your students. Feelings, self-awareness, life skills, conflict management, self-esteem, and all of the other developmental areas affect emotional intelligence and are critically important. Emotions are not unruly remnants of stone-age survival. Emotions drive our behavior, shape our values, and predispose us to choose one course of action over others. Emotional and rational skills are equally important components of human intelligence. Children have two minds- one that thinks (IQ) and one that feels (EQ). How children function each day and throughout life is determined by both.
What is emotion? The dictionary defines emotion as "an intense mental state that arises and is often accompanied by physiological changes. "The word "emotion" is from the Latin root "to move"- anyone who has experienced intense joy, desire, anger or grief knows that emotions are anything but static mental states. Emotions are something we DO! Emotions shift our attention and propel us into action, changing our facial expression, muscle tone, voice, nerves, hormones. They allow us to defend ourselves in dangerous situations, fall in love, protect the things we value, mourn losses, and overcome difficulties.
Avid update:
May 10-14 is College Awareness Week at Ramsey!
The AVID class at Ramsey planned College Awareness Week to help educate students on their choices after high school!
Our goal is for all students to finish high school with options. Ramsey staff and students are invited to wear college gear all week long! Check out the following activities for this week!
*Foundations class activities -- Students will participate in college-related activities in their Foundations class to educate them on future options! *The Ramsey Show - Check out the latest edition of the Ramsey Show to learn more about Ramsey Staff Members' college experiences.
*School-wide Contest - Families or individual students are invited to compete in our School-wide Contest! Complete this Escape Room and be entered to win a prize! You will learn about colleges as you escape! The whole family is invited to participate! (Note: This Escape Room is different from the one completed in Foundations class.) Good luck! https://forms.gle/LdZaGyyxmnZdfcRK6
Holding Space
Hey scholars!
Do you need a space to express yourselves or some time to take a breath/brain break? Are you feeling like you need time to talk about what’s important to you or looking to build a tighter community at Ramsey?
If so, I have created some circle space for you to check in! Sign up for circles can be found on Schoology in your Foundations class. Unfortunately, we only have enough space for 15 students per grade each week; but we will have this space every week, so don’t worry! If you have any questions you can email me at satara.strong@spps.org. I look forward to hearing from you!

8th Grade Pictures
We would greatly appreciate your assistance getting the word out to students about 8th grade pictures. Normally we would have Lifetouch take pictures of all 8th grade students to be used for their 8th grade certificates. This year, we are asking 8th graders to submit a picture of themselves (jpeg or pdf). This picture will be used in the 8th grade virtual ceremony and we will also print it on their certificate. Please submit pictures to:
Teresa.vibar@spps.org or Barbie.Woodruff@spps.org no later than Monday, May 31st.
9th Grade Registration
Students who still need help registering for classes should send the counselors an email. They can request to stop by during the school day or they can request a Google Meeting. It takes about 10 minutes.2021 St. Paul Rotary Award Club Winners:
