Masks Required

Families, please take a moment to remind your students about the importance of wearing face masks that cover their mouth and nose the entire day while they are on campus. The vast majority of students are doing a wonderful job. Some are having trouble remembering to keep masks pulled up and on. Wearing masks all day can be exhausting and frustrating. However, right now, masks are one of our greatest ways to fight this disease and keep our community safe. Students should not leave the house without a mask. Students are not allowed to wear gaters that cover the head and face. Cloth or disposable masks are required. If possible, please send them with an extra just in case one breaks. Reminders from you will be very helpful.

EMS Chronicles: Volume 1, The Passion Profiles

Check out the first volume of EMS Chronicles. The students in our journalism class completed interviews, came up with the concept and web design, and most importantly worked through the writing process in order to put forth their best work. The staff works hard to cover issues and topics of interest to the Edendale community. Happy reading!!

Covid Protocols

As a reminder, the San Lorenzo Unified District will continue to offer COVID testing to all staff and students on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in front of the District Office. Additionally, COVID vaccines and Boosters are available for 5 years old and above at San Lorenzo High School on Thursdays from 3:30p.m. to 7:30p.m open to the public. Please see the district website for COVID 19 vaccines and testing resources.

At school if your student is sick, they will require a negative PCR Covid test before they will be allowed to return to school or they will need to quarantine for 10 days before returning.

Please remember to continue to take precautions by observing and practicing all health protocols (wearing a mask, washing hands, avoiding crowded public spaces) to help each one of us protect ourselves and others.

Tardies

The staff at Edendale want to help each student become the best, most educated people possible. There are a number of students who are consistently tardy to class. Beginning now, students who are not in their seat when the bell rings may be taken to the office for phone calls home and a one hour detention assigned. The announcement of our new tardy policy has been made during Morning Blastoff announcements.

It is imperative for their education that students are in class every day, every period. The bell schedule is allows for four minute passing periods. When students walk with purpose and intent, four minutes is plenty of time to make it from one end of campus to the other. Please discuss the new tardy policy with your student and feel free to contact us if you have any questions (510) 317-5100.

Proof of Covid Vaccination Status

At this time COVID-19 vaccination is not yet required to attend SLZUSD schools, though the State of CA has mandated that all students will need to be vaccinated to attend school once vaccines receive full FDA approval. Additionally, fully vaccinated students (with no symptoms) who have been exposed to someone who is COVID positive do not have to quarantine and will not be required to miss school.

In preparation of the state mandate, we are requesting that students who are vaccinated submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Edendale Middle School Office. You can also email a copy of your vaccination card to Nikki Seaberg at nseaberg@slzusd.org. (Please wait to submit documentation until both doses of Pfizer or Moderna have been administered.) We will verify the record and then the student will be counted as having completed their primary COVID-19 vaccination series.

Remember that per Alameda County Public Health Guidelines, fully vaccinated students (with no symptoms) will not be required quarantine and miss school if they are a close contact to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Please make a copy of your child’s vaccination card/record to give to the school office. If you do not have the CDC vaccination card, you may be able to obtain a copy of your vaccination record using California's Digital COVID-19 Records at https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov

Opportunities to Support EMS

Are you looking for ways to support the Edendale Community? Have I got some suggestions for you!

Edendale is always looking for ways to include parent and caregiver voice. One way you can support is to volunteer your time as part of the Parent/Teacher Association. Currently, our governing board is incomplete and we welcome you to become a part of this worthwhile organization.

Complete this form to sign up to volunteer. Edendale Volunteer Form

School Site Council is an assembly of administration, teachers, and parents who will meet to discuss the needs and changes of our school. School Site Council meets monthly.

Parent/Teacher Association is a group of parent volunteers, support staff, admin and teachers who meet monthly and contribute to building a safe, inclusive, inviting school culture for both students and staff. They have launched fundraisers, helped to coordinate support for school-wide events and initiated several teacher recognition celebrations. Their mission is to build stronger connections between EMS and the families they serve. We are looking for adult volunteers to complete our board.

English Language Advisory Council is an assembly of staff and parents who meet to address the needs related to the education of students who are multilingual. The council will meet once a quarter.

Coffee Club is a community of parents that meets to engage in parent education, including accessing educational, socio-emotional, and academic resources. Additionally, Coffee Club often coordinates cultural events on campus and is active in the Ashland community.
