PALs Reading Corner

Back to School edition 2014

Dear Pioneer Family,

Welcome back students, teachers and parents to another fabulous year of learning experiences and reading in the OPES Media Center. Did you read this summer? Great. Remember to turn in your reading logs so you can come me at the Reading Celebration! There are two new book clubs for 4th and 5th graders and Mrs. Durham will tell about how to join during your Orientation. See you in the library...Love, PAL

What's New in the Media Center?

"Trailblazers and Book Challenge Book Clubs"

The Library Media Center will have two new book club choices for fourth and fifth graders who love to read good books! Read the flyers for more details and sign up by the end of August for your favorite two choices. All book club members will be able to participate in the Author Skype visits with Chris Grabenstein in January (Escape from Mr. Lemonicello's Library) and Kate Messner (Capture the Flag) during the second semester. All club choices are final.

Heaps Reading Nook Dedication Ceremony

On June 2, 2014, a ceremony was held in memory of Melissa Heaps. She loved the library, sharing the joy of reading with children and Skippyjon Jones, her favorite character with everyone. The Heaps Reading Nook video shows that it will be a place for children to continue their love of reading...just what Melissa would have wanted for all!
