What Are We Learning?
Homework- Students bring home a reading log every Monday. These are due back to school on Friday morning (unless absent). They are only required to respond to their reading three times each week. Each student has a list of reading responses in their binder. Some of the responses are very quick and easy. However, I do expect them to use complete sentences, punctuation, and detail in their work.
Reading- We will begin our Author Fair projects. Students will be researching and reading books by their favorite author. One of the projects involved in the Author Fair will be a book talk. I will be sending home information about the project closer to the due date. Students will do the majority of their work at school. However, they may need to practice presentation skills at home with family members to build confidence. There will be a rubric included for each student to know the exact expectations for the project. I am excited, and I know the students will have fun during this reading unit!
Writing- We are spending the next two weeks on our Imaginative Stories. Students will focus on editing and revising this week. We will also begin illustrating our mythological creatures for the book we will have published.
Math- Add and multiply fractions to build fractions greater than 1. Students will also solve word problems with line plots.
Science/ Social Studies- We will be learning how living organisms are interdependent.
