Key Stage 2 Tests

Don’t forget that it is KS2 test week next week. Please make sure that all children are in school every day and arrive on time so that there is minimal disruption for our Year 6 pupils. We know that they are extremely talented and will do themselves proud in the tests, and we all want to give them every chance of succeeding.

Electricity Upgrade

We are very proud of how our children coped with a morning without electricity yesterday whilst we had our electricity meter changed to a new smart meter. They were all fabulous and did not allow it to interrupt their learning.

Bee Week

You may be aware that our school is part of an exciting science project funded by the Royal Society to investigate which is the greatest animal of all. We have been allocated the bee to study, and this will kick off with a ‘bee week’ starting on 16th May. On Wednesday 18th May we invite all children to wear black and yellow if they would like. Over the course of the study we hope to find out lots about bees, with the aim of possibly keeping a colony in the wildlife area.

Young Voices

Next Friday, the children in Maple will take part in the Young Voices event in Sheffield. They will be part of the world’s biggest choir, bringing 3,500 children together in the arena to sing together, accompanied by a live band. They will be accompanied by Miss Holgate, Mrs Payne and Mr Weights. We are all very excited about being part of this event. Please note that the office will not be manned on that afternoon.

Sports Day

Reminder - our sports day will be held on the afternoon of 26th May and will be open to parents to spectate.

Parent Volunteers

We are delighted to be able to have volunteers into schools again, and would welcome parents to help us. If you are able to give any time to us, either on an ad-hoc or regular basis, you will need to complete a DBS application. Please contact the office for more information.

School Lunches

Please see the new Summer 2022 Lunch menu below. Next week we will be on Week 3 of lunches.

Children can decide daily whether they are having a school dinner or packed lunch.

Please ensure you discuss the menu each day with your child so they can decide what they would like to order. Once they know their choices, they will choose this each morning with their teacher during registration.

Each day there are 4 choices, either the hot dinner, hot vegetarian option, jacket potato with a choice of toppings or a sandwich. The sandwich and jacket potato always come with a selection of vegetables/salad on the side and have the full pudding choice for that day.

Packed Lunches - if you are sending grapes in your child's packed lunch, can you please ensure that these are cut in half.
