Faculty Meeting April 9th
On Monday April 9th, our Faculty Meeting scheduled for that day is our GA Milestone Test Training. It is mandatory that everyone attend. State requirements is that everyone must attend AND stay for the entire training. If anyone leaves before training is complete, it doesn’t count. Please go ahead and make sure you do not have doctor’s appointments, child care issues, etc. for that day. I will do my best to get us done before 4:45, but we have a lot to cover. Due to the length of the training a makeup training will not be offered unless an extreme emergency arises.
Action Item:
Make the appropriate arrangements so that you can attend the faculty meeting the Monday we return from Spring Break.
REMINDER: VCR Collection
If you haven't already, please bring your VCR to the media center in the GMM room before the end of the week. The county will be collecting them before Spring Break!
Action Item
Bring VCR/DVD player to the GMM room in the media center by THIS Friday!

InsertLearning
With this tool, you can basically take any page on the Internet and turn it into a lesson. Suppose you find a great article from Discovery Ed that you’d like students to read, but you’d also like to ask them a few questions about it, add a bit of commentary of your own, and insert a related video. With InsertLearning, you can do all of that right on the article.
InsertLearning is an extension you add to your Chrome browser. Once it’s there, you can turn any website into a lesson in no time. You start with a web page of any kind, then highlight text, add notes, and embed your own questions—either multiple-choice or open-ended—that students answer right on the page. You can also embed other content like YouTube videos, ThingLink images, flashcards from Quizlet, even videos you record straight from a Chromebook's webcam! This resource is an awesome way for students to work independently in small groups or in a flipped classroom setting.
Jump Rope for Heart
This Friday we will have our Jump Rope For Heart Celebration. During specials all students will meet in the music room. Students with $50 or more in donations will head to the gym to play on the bounce house (Don’t worry we will handle those logistics). The remaining students will stay in the music room to watch a movie. You will drop off and pick up from the music room.
The Friday after Spring Break we will change our Friday specials. Please check the google drive to find out which specials your children have on Fridays and communicate with your parents.
Lastly, we have reached our overall goal ($8,500) for JRFH, which means I will be dying my hair. The top fundraiser will get to pick the color L. I need your expertise (don’t usually dye my hair). I am hoping to find something that will dye my hair for a couple of days, nothing permanent. You know I have to keep up my reputation. So, if you have any suggestions on what to use, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff

Technology During Indoor Recess
We had a great discussion and brainstorming session with teachers from all different grade levels today at the Technology Brainstorming Meeting! Thank you to all of the teachers who came and gave their suggestions for technology use moving forward! We value your input so much!
As a team, we decided to implement a no technology use during indoor recess time rule for the entire school. In place of technology, teachers suggested students play board games, class games (heads up 7 up....), create games, free art time, etc. This time gives students the opportunity to socialize, collaborate, and be creative. We all agreed that the students may need time to "turn off" from technology since they use it all day. Please let Carol Ann know if you have any questions/concerns.
Action Item
Moving forward, there will be no technology use during indoor recess.
