Last night’s band concert was absolutely magical! The entire gym was packed with students and community members…and when I say “packed,” I mean packed!! Mr. Carnahan is a true performer and a skillful Director. His introduction to each performance was funny and entertaining. It was fascinating to see the true enjoyment reflected on everyone’s face after each performance. Community members were genuinely excited to celebrate our Knights. Students were having so much fun showing off what they have learned in Band. Last night gave me a lot of hope for our work ahead. To see the entire community being so supportive was also inspiring.
Thank you to Mr. Carnahan for putting on such a wonderful performance; and for the many hours he has invested in our community. Thank you to the many staff members who came to support our Knights. There were many of you there and that was also incredible. Thank you to the 180+ Knights who played with such passion and commitment. They sounded great! And, of course, thank you to our entire Vikan community for coming in such large numbers to support our students.

Love Soccer? Our Knights Do Too!!! - Coaches Needed
Attention Vikan Parents/Guardians! We are in need of a Girls Soccer Coach and Boys Soccer Coach for the upcoming 2023 Spring Sports season starting in March! This is a paid position with practices and games Tuesday through Friday only and will run through the beginning of May. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Mogensen (Athletic Director) with more information at jmogensen@sd27j.net
ACCESS Testing
Next week we will continue ACCESS testing at Vikan. With the snow day and delayed start this week we were only able to administer the Listening portion of the test. This test is ONLY for students that are non-english proficient or have a limited english proficiency. The test is not administered to all students. ACCESS is a computer-based, adaptive test that responds to student performance. This assessment is given annually to students in Grades 1-12 and tests students' language in four domains: Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing. Students will complete Reading, Speaking and Writing this week.
