DIET
-herbivorous -eats only sea grasses and algae -vegetarian -juvenile green sea turtles will eat crabs, jellyfish, and sponges (NG)
HABITAT
-lives in the water mostly -likes warm water -likes shallow waters -likes any waters above 68 degrees farenheit -found mainly in open seas, bays, lakes, or lagoons (WIKI)
LIFE
-live for 80-100 years -females breed every 3-4 years females lay 75-100 eggs after digging a hole and covering it with sand. -once the eggs hatch, they are left to fend for themselves -barely half of the baby sea turtles even make it out to the ocean from the beach (NG)
PHYSICAL FEATURES
-sea turtles are very large -they have a shell to protect themselves -can weigh up to 700 pounds -they are named "green" not for the color of their shell but for the color of their body fat -strong legs for swimming fast -
COMMUNICATION
-scientists have not yet figured out how sea turtles communicate
PREDATORS
predators include -seagulls -crabs -humans
