Marlow Monday Message
Monday, January 15th, 2024
Goooooood Evening Marlow Families! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and students enjoyed today day off on this Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. Kind of a crazy week last week with Tuesday's school closure, Wednesday's delayed opening, flooded roads, and detours. Through all that, I am so proud of our students, teachers, and staff for staying focused on the tasks at hand, and working hard through these uncontrollable events.
We are expecting some very COLD temperatures this week...Students and parents, please make sure our Buckaroos are dressed appropriately, whether they are inside or outside. And of course, there is no better time than to mention our Lost and Found, which was 'reset' before the holiday break, but is slowly starting to grow back. Several coats and jackets are there, and this week, they will be needed.
Other highlights this week included: Our second grade students completing their 1st of 3 visits to the Hendersonville YMCA for their Safety Around Water class, the 4th Annual Girl Power event Friday evening for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls, and we ended the week recognizing and celebrating our 3rd - 5th grade Q2 Honor Roll students...Over 210 students were honored! Congratulations!!
Students - A 4-day week is upon you. Let's work hard to make it another great week.

In This Week's Marlow Monday Message:
Middle of Year (MOY) Assessments - still; going on
We are still in the window of our Middle of the Year (MoY) Assessments in all grade levels, so the emphasis on great attendance during this time is crucial. MoY Assessment windows will close by January 24, so students, continue to work hard to 'show-off' the great progress you have made so far this year!!
Art Submissions for the Art League of Henderson County
The Art League of Henderson County is looking for youth artwork to be made into banners to hang around the county. This is a great opportunity for students to be recognized for their art! The art can be any subject or medium, but will be printed in a square format so square or rectangle art will work best. The art can have been made in school or at home.
Here is the link to the application: https://www.artleaguehvl.org/artscape_youth_banner_project.php
If you have any questions, please contact Marlow Elementary Art Teacher, Ivy Graham, at 828-654-3225, or send her an email at idgraham@hcpsnc.org.
Attendance....by the numbers
As said many times before, student attendance plays an integral part of a child's success in school. Beginning this week, I will post the Average Weekly Attendance Rate for the previous week in this section of the Marlow Monday Message.
Our school wide goal is an Average Weekly Attendance Rate (AWAR) of 95% or greater.
This past week (1/8 - 1/12), our school-wide AWAR was 93.8%.
Tomorrow starts a new week. Let's work hard to stay healthy, be on time to school, and great things will happen.
Every student counts.....Every day matters. Let's do this.
