ESSER I, II, III - What did LVISD do with their ESSER funds?
This is Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funding that the federal government released to all states beginning March of 2020 to provide school districts funds to offset the repercussions of Covid-19. Visit the TEA website to learn more about this program: https://tea.texas.gov/finance-and-grants/grants/elementary-and-secondary-school-emergency-relief-esser-grant-programs.
What did LVISD do with the funding?
ESSER I- Purchase of personal protective equipment, cleaning products, and to cover funding for lack of student attendance connected to the pandemic. This funding covered the district during the onset of the pandemic.
ESSER II- The state held ESSER II funds to offset funding in the Foundation School Program due to poor attendance for the 2020-2021 academic year. Upon calculation of student attendance in 20-21 related to funding, this allocation of funds went 100% to cover payroll over the summer of 2021.
ESSER III- These funds were allocated to districts to offset the effects of Covid-19 related to learning loss. The stakeholders of LVISD were provided an opportunity to give feedback on where the funding should be spent, and a plan was put into place that has been public on the website since July of 2021.
