Would you like to say thank you?

We love to hear when things are going well for your child. If you would like to say ‘thank you’ to any particular member of staff, don’t forget that you can use the ‘shout outs’ link below.
This weekend is the RSPB Bird Watch. The garden event for homes runs from 29th – 31st January, and the school event runs until 22nd February. Some teachers will be including activities in lessons next week, but anyone can choose to join in over the weekend. Feeding, watching and identifying birds can be a great activity. You can find out more at: https://www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/birdwatch/

How much do things cost to run?

A good way to save energy in the home is to focus first on those appliances that use the most electricity. Check out the table below to find out the energy use and costs of a range of household appliances (info from the CSE) #saveenergy #savemoney #bigenergysavingwinter.org.uk
Big picture

Remote Learning.

Please remember that pupils should be accessing remote learning using their school account. If you are using a shared device, please remember to log out of personal Gmail accounts before accessing learning. We know that school accounts have caused some issues with access to Youtube videos, but personal accounts can cause difficulties accessing and submitting tasks.

Half Term and Inset Day

The DFE has confirmed that schools will close to all pupils (including those of critical workers) for half term. As previously advertised, Friday 12th February is a school closure day for INSET. Therefore, the last day of the half term for all children will be Thursday 11th February. There will not be any on-site provision until Monday 22nd, and teachers will not set remote learning for children during the half term break. This will also resume on Monday 22nd February.

Punctuality

If your child is attending school as part of our provision for critical workers, it is important that they are punctual. Please remember that they should arrive at 8:50am and must leave at 3:30pm. This will help us to maintain our organisation and help keep everyone safe. If your child is ill or not attending for any reason please ring the office and leave a voicemail before 8.50am.

Car Park

Please remember that the school car park is for staff or disabled use only. We have noticed some parents choosing to drop children off here, and this is not appropriate. It would be a benefit to health, wellbeing and the environment to park slightly further away from school and walking the rest of the way.

Office Closed

For the time being, the school office will remain closed. Voicemail and email messages are being picked up from home, so please do leave a message if you need to contact us and we will attend to it quickly.

Reporting a positive Covid result out of hours.

Should you believe your child to have Covid-19 symptoms and need to go into self-isolation, please notify the school office in the usual way via phone or email.

Should you receive a ‘test positive’ result for your child it is VITAL that you notify us as soon as possible: During school hours – directly to the school office via 01977 682388.

Out of hours send an email to covid@mf.starmat.uk (stating student’s full name and class, contact phone number, date and time of positive Covid test result – please use TEST POSITIVE in the title)

It is VITAL that you let us know as soon as you possibly can so that we can implement contingency planning.

Covid App

Don’t forget that our school has registered with the Covid Symptom Study to help monitor the spread of the virus. If you would like to participate, you will need to register with the school code A2JC644. For more information including full instructions on how to join and use the COVID Symptom Study app please head to: https://covid.joinzoe.com/schools
