Parsons Families,
Each November, we celebrate Family Engagement Month. This is always an important time to recognize how essential families are to their children’s educational success. For two years in a row, however, I’ve felt that the “thank you” we owe to Parsons' parents and families is bigger than we could fully express.
The challenges facing parents, families, and children over the last year and a half have been enormous. While the pandemic has placed a strain on all of us, I know it has been difficult in unique ways for the parents and families of our little lion cubs.
You have always been your child’s first teacher, but this school year, you have adapted to quickly changing information, helped your children adjust to new safety protocols, and extended grace and patience to teachers and school staff as we’ve all navigated this new normal together. You’ve also continued the often unsung, but always important, work of keeping your child learning – from reading before bedtime and helping with homework to exploring the outdoors.
I believe wholeheartedly that when schools and families work in true partnership, not always agreeing, but in open conversation and in pursuit of a common goal, our kiddos will succeed .
Thank you, parents and families, for all you’ve done to support your children’s learning, and our school, this year. Your role is more important than it has ever been, and nothing we do as educators could be accomplished without you.

Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month. First celebrated as American Indian Day in 1916, President Regan made a proclamation to extend the commemoration to a week. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush issued an official proclamation calling for a month long celebration, and every president since has made the same proclamation. The month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people.

Picture Make Up/Retake Day ~ Wednesday, November 10th
If you were absent or did not like your picture taken in September, we will have a picture make up day on Wednesday, November 10th. If you purchased a picture packet and didn't like it, you can bring the packet back in, give to the photographer and get a new picture taken.
This is an important picture as it will be the one placed in our yearbook.
You can quickly do an online order by going to:
mylifetouch.com and use Picture Day ID EVTKFQK4T or you can also fill out the form that was sent home last week in Friday folders and send back with money and choice of package.
If you are a digital student and would like to come in to get your picture taken, you can come at 9:00 am on Wednesday, November 10th.
PERKS
We hope you can join us for our annual PERKS Seminar on November 11, at Peachtree Ridge High School. This seminar allows us the opportunity to present all the perks offered to those students who are enrolled in one of the Peachtree Ridge Cluster Schools. If you are unable to attend in person but would like to join virtually, click the link to Virtual Option:
Live Virtual Option Link Afternoon Transportation
All transportation changes must be made in writing. Whenever you need to make a change to your child's afternoon transportation plan, please complete an Afternoon Transportation Change Form in the front office no later than 12:00 PM the day of the change. We will utilize this form to create the appropriate afternoon transportation pass. Please remember the GCPS Bus Rule: no passes will be issued for play dates, birthdays, weekend sleepovers, etc. For security reasons, we DO NOT accept transportation changes through phone calls or emails.
Student Check Out
Anyone checking out a child must present photo identification and be listed in our system as someone able to have access to the student. If you need to make changes to your list of approved emergency contacts, you may make changes on the Parent Portal or stop by the office to update this information.
As a reminder, students may NOT be checked out after 3:00 PM. For assistance in updating contact information on the Parent Portal, please visit
